McMahons Supervalu 5K – The Club were delighted yet again last week as they announced that McMahons Supervalu have come on board as the main sponsor of the Castleblayney 5K walk/run which happens on Sunday the 29th of November at 2pm. The McMahons Supervalu Castleblayney 5K which is now in its fifth year has proven to be one of the biggest events in the local community as well as an established event for all local athletes. The event which has now become part of the calendar of the Castleblayney area has developed each year with an increased number of runners competing at every event while also attracting such fitness celebrities as Gerry Duffy, Catherina Mc Kiernan, Ken Whitelaw, and Dr.Niall Moyna for the questions and answers session in the Glencarn Hotel directly after the run. This year we are delight to announce that our special guest this year will be David Matthews, two times Olympian, current Irish 800m record holder and former Cork Hurling Coach. We are asking that every Club member participates on the day, registration is available online at www.castleblayneyfaughs.com or www.Runireland.com, or forms are available in store at McMahons Supervalu.

Operation TransFAUGHSmation: Last Friday we had a great class with our Senior Player Dermot McArdle who along with John Paul Mone and Keith Hill ran their new concept Ramfit; feedback on the night was excellent and we wish the lads well as they get ready to roll out their concept to other fitness groups. This Tuesday we will have circuits as normal with Friday evening class see Janet Keenan completing her Pilates Class; this is always an excellent class. On Sunday we will start the countdown to the McMahons Supervalu 5K run for the participants of OPTFM, with only a few weeks to go we would ask you to keep the encouragement going so that we get as many people to complete the 5K as possible, if you have missed a few sessions make sure you get back this week, don’t worry everyone falls off the horse every so often.
