Club Notes 04/02/14

Seniors: The draw for the Senior Championship took place last week, with the Senior Team given a difficult opener when they pulled 2012 County Champions, Ballybay. The lads will have plenty of time to get ready with the fixture not expected to take place until early Summer.

Reserve Championship Draw – The Reserve team were also given a difficult opener in the O’Duffy Cup, with a tricky tie against Monaghan Harps. If they overcome the Harps they will face local neighbours Cremartin in the quarter final.

Juvenile Training – Training resumes Thursday the 6th for the Under 6’s Under 8’s and Under 10’s on the Astro Turf, while the Girls will return on Monday the 10th of February and the Boys Under 12’s on Tuesday 11th of February. All details are on Facebook, Twitter and in the note sent out through the Schools.

Registration Evening – This year the Club will hold its annual registration for all Juvenile Players over two evenings. Monday the 24th will see registration for Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 taking place in the Club Rooms while the following evening Tuesday 25th it will be the turn of the Under 14’s and Under 16’s. The Club will require a parent/guardian to accompany the players on the registration evening, remember all players must be registered as a member of the club in order to be covered from an insurance perspective. The evening will also allow the parents to ask questions about club activities, fixtures and training. Every player is required to attend so that they are fully registered.

Coaching Course – Paul O’Connor and the County Coaching team have been hard at work pulling together a number of coaching courses for February and March, this month see the foundation course been run on Feb 14th/15th in Corduff, Level 1 for Child is Feb 7th/8th/9th with the Youth Adult version been run on February 21st/22nd and 23rd. The level 2 course will run each Saturday from February 28th to Saturday 15th of March. Monday 3rd of February there will be a course on Kickout and Midfield Coordination run by Tony Scullion in Cloghan at 7.30pm, the new rules presentation will take place in Cloghan from 7.30pm to 9.00pm with Pat McEneaney giving the presentation. On Monday 10th of February, Kevin McGuigan from the Ulster Council will give a session on how to train hard, with Wednesday 19th being a course on Activate Warm Up by Roger Keenan. Finally on Monday 24th of February, Tony Scullion will have a course on Back to Basic. All session start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.00pm, we ask all coaches to contact Keith Hanratty/Brian Sherry or Paul O’Connor to book your space on these FREE courses.

Lotto – Results of this weeks’ lotto to follow in next weeks’ notes. The lotto draw for the 27/01/14 took place in Tavey’s Bar. There was no winner of the jackpot which now stands at €2,200. The four lucky dip winners were Josie Marron, C/o Sarah Mackin, Eddie Ruddy, 26 Blaeberry Walk, Frank Marron, C/o Sarah Mackin and Con Byrne, C/o Sarah Mackin. The numbers drawn were 9, 13, 16, 19. Congratulations to all the winners and many thanks to everyone for their continued support.

Mouth Guards – Just a reminder to all players and parents that from the 1st of January, it is now compulsory to wear a mouth guard at all training sessions and matches. The GAA insurance scheme will no longer cover dental injuries.
