Senior Men: Our senior men exited this year’s Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship when they went down by one point against Latton on Sunday past in Scotstown. In a game that did not really take off and played in breezy and wet conditions, Latton got off to a strong start. The Faughs fought back well towards the end of the first half to leave the half time score 0-3 apiece.
We did have a decent goal chance, but in fairness, Pauric McBennett did good work in keeping Latton as bay at the other end.
After the restart, Dermot Malone fired over two frees to put us ahead by 2 points and this advantage was maintained until the 45th minute. The Faughs went down to 14 men when Paddy Finnegan got 2 yellows. Latton then came back at us and scored 4 points without reply to go ahead 0-9 to 0-7 by the 64th minute. The Faughs then went in search of scores but unfortunately were only rewarded with a Dermot McArdle point, to leave the final score: Faughs 0-8, Latton 0-9.
In a typical tough and uncompromising game, best for the Faughs on the day were Pauric McBennett, Ethan McCann, Josh Walsh, Dermot Malone, Davy McMahon and Darren Daly.
All eyes now turn to the remaining league fixtures where we can expect to pick up some important league points beginning with a trip to the Harps this coming Saturday, throw-in 5.30pm.

Good Luck: Good luck and best wishes to our U16 boys who play in the Div1 Championship final against the Harps this coming Saturday (16th September). The lads have been putting in trojan work to get themselves into the best possible shape for the final, so let’s hope we have more silverware in Castleblayney come Saturday evening. The team and the coaching staff would appreciate as much support as possible in Drumhowan this Saturday, throw-in 3.00pm.

Planning: As we near the end of the playing season, our thoughts turn to implementing plans that will help our club grow and become more successful in the future. With this in mind, our committee groups that were setup as a result of our 4 year Development Plan launched at the beginning of this year will begin to meet more regular. We have specific committees targeting: Community Health & Wellness, Scor & Irish Culture, Facilities Development, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Coaching and Games Development.
If you would like to be part of this effort in shaping the future of our club, please contact any of the committee members.
