Club Notes 20th June

The John West Féile Peil na nÓg 2017 takes place this weekend in Monaghan, Cavan and Fermanagh.

The Faughs will be hosting the girls team from Naomh Phadraig CLG, Westport and they will be competing in Division 1. The boys team from the O’Donovan Rossa club in Antrim will also be staying with us. A full programme of matches and events are planned throughout the weekend, kicking off on Friday at around 2.00pm.

All matches are free to attend, so please come along and support all the teams and make this a truly memorable event for all concerned, especially our young football stars of the future. If you would like to help in any way throughout the weekend, please contact Brian Sherry on 086 233 4287.

The girls are in Division 1, Group D along with Emyvale, Tinahely from Wicklow and Westport from Mayo. The first match for the girls is a local affair with Emyvale with a throw-in at 6.00pm on Friday in Emyvale. Each of the four teams play two matches on Friday evening in Emyvale. Then on Saturday the Faughs girls take on Westport at 10.00 am, while at 11.00 am Emyvale host Tinahely.

The boys are in Division 1, Group D along with Monaghan Harps, Naomh Colmcille from Meath and O’Donovan Rossa from Antrim.
The first match at St. Marys Park is an all Monaghan affair with the Faughs boys taking on the Harps, throw-in at 3.00 pm Friday. Each of the four teams play two matches on Friday evening with the action continuing until around 6.00 pm On Saturday the first match for the boys is against O’Donovan Rossa with a throw-in at 11.00 am.

Cúl Camps: The Cúl Camp is taking place in St Marys Park starting Monday 10th of July. This year the Monaghan GAA Coaching and Development Team are looking to get the numbers confirmed as early as possible. The ‘Early Bird’ Competition we are running with this Summer’s Cúl Camps closes this Friday, 23rd June.
The children will be getting forms through the schools – and we would encourage parents to return them as early as possible. For further details check the Monaghan GAA website or ring Brian Sherry on 086 2334287.

Fun on the Green: Fun on the green is a fun programme from the Castleblayney Faughs which is aimed at boys and girls from the ages of 4 to 8, the programme will see the Club Coaches , Senior Players and County Star Dermot Malone coming to one of the local greens in the town to play games with the young children in the area. Saturday 1st of July we will be in Knocktornagh, Saturday 15th we will be in Cresent Hill while on Saturday 29th of July we will be in Drumillard , the programme will run from 4pm to 5pm on each of these dates.

Good Luck: Good luck to all of our players representing their county this weekend. Good luck and best wishes to all players, coaches, parents and supporters who will be attending this weekend’s Feile games. Let’s make it a very special occasion to remember for all involved.

Training:
Girls U8/U10: Training for the girls continues on Mondays, 6-7pm. Remember water and gum shield.
U6s: No training this week due to the Féile – training resumes next week.
Boys U8: No training this week due to the Féile – training resumes next week.
Boys U10: No training this week due to the Féile – training resumes next week.
