Club Notes 30th May

SFL: In an entertaining game on a warm Friday evening last, the Faughs got an important two points against Monaghan Harps. The Harps went into a 0-3 to 0-1 lead before Ciaran Hanratty scored well worked goal in the 8th minute. This seemed to settle the Faughs and they would not relinquish that lead.

The lads continued to put together some good moves to leave the half time score: Faughs 1-9, Harps 0-6. The second half began in the same vein as the first half with some good linkup play and scores. By the 40th minute the Faughs were 2-10 to 0-8 up. The Harps then fought back and by the 60th minute it was only a 2 point game, but the lads held their nerve for an important win on a scoreline of Faughs 2-12, Harps 1-12. There were some good performance all over the pitch particularly from Mark Treanor and the three Hanratty brothers.

U12 Boys: The Senior U12 team had their 2nd match in the league on a rain soaked day away to Scotstown. The home team dominated the first half and led by 11 points at half time. Our players upped their performance in the second half and came roaring back to be within 2 points of their opponents entering the last few minutes. After a fantastic battling second half performance by the lads, they fell short by 4 points at the final whistle. A continuation of this effort and attitude augers well for the rest of the year for this team.

U12 Boys: The Development U12 team had their second match in the league away to Carrickmacross. In torrential conditions the lads put in a superb effort from start to finish against superior opposition. All players played to the final whistle and continued improvement is evident to all coaches. Although defeated at the final whistle coaches and players alike have positives to take from this and recent performances.

U10 Girls: In a great evening for football, the Under 10 Girls played O Neill Shamrocks last Wednesday in St Marys Park. For most of the girls this was the first time representing our club. They played really well throughout and put in a fantastic display overall, with superb performances all over the pitch. We are very proud of all the girls. The panel on the night was as follows: Amy Hughes, Annabel Martin, Annie Carroll, Bethany Boyd, Ciara Fitzpatrick, Ciara Mc Mahon, Eimear Bolger, Ella Marie Bishop, Ellie Kieran, Ionela Lungu, Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick, Lauren Hughes, Mary Ellen Hughes, Mia Duffy, Ruby Ward, Tammy Dunne, Laragh Corcoran, Yasmin Collins

U9 Boys: Our U9 team travelled to the annual Kilmacud Crokes Tournament last Sunday . The Faughs drew with Colmcilles from Meath in their first. They then beat Geraldines from Louth, St Bridget’s and our hosts, Kilmacud Crokes to advance to the Semi Final where they came up against a strong Naomh Mearnog from Portmarnock. At the end of an exciting match, Naomh Mearnog came out on top by a single point . The boys showed great skill, determination and desire right throughout the day and we are very proud of them all.
