The Faughs were definitely worth their victory against a courageous and determined Clones side. The lads fought hard for every ball and showed great skill and poise when in possession. Well done to all the group, players and mentors for bring home the silverware. Final score: Faughs 1-5, Clones 1-4.
U12 Girls: Our U12 Girls went down against a strong Killanny side in the final of the U12 Shield on Sunday past. The girls showed some great skill and courage, but came up against a determined Killanny side. The dirls gave their all this season and can look back with pride in what they have achieved. Although we did not get the result this time, the whole team and mentors can definitely look forward to better times ahead with this group of talented players. Final score: Faughs 1-04, Killanny 2-05.
U10 Boys: The U10 lads travelled to Drumhowan on Saturday past to play in the Dan Markey Tournament. The blitz involved 8 teams from all over the north east. The boys put on an excellent performance in all of their matches and showed no small amount of skill in winning the cup. Well done to everyone involved with the team. Another piece of silverware to add to the collection for this year.
Well Done: Well done to all our boys and girls juvenile teams who played this week – while some may not have got the result they wanted, they all should be proud of all their achievements this season. The juvenile year shows the great work that is happening within the club and the future is definitely bright!
Photos Needed: Joe Hanratty is presently updating the history of the Faughs club which was originally published in 1984, and is trying to track down team photos from 1985 to the present day. Photos would be scanned and returned to their owners expeditiously. They can be given to Joe or to any member of the committee. If people have photos and wish to scan them themselves and email them to Joe directly that would be great. If emailing photos would you please include team names and the year the photos was taken. If there is more information re; the match, competition and venue at which the photos were taken that would also be greatly appreciated. Photos can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or to Castleblayney Faughs secretary Melissa at the following email address email@example.com
Planning: As we near the end of the playing season, our thoughts turn to implementing plans that will help our club grow and become more successful in the future. With this in mind, our committee groups that were setup as a result of our 4 year Development Plan will begin meeting more regular. We have specific committees targeting: Community Health & Wellness, Scor & Irish Culture, Facilities Development, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Coaching and Games Development.
If you would like to be part of this effort in shaping the future of our club, please contact any of the committee members.
