Club Notes April 17th

Senior Ladies: Tyholland 3-08, Faughs 4-09. The ladies senior league got underway in a very entertaining game. We had 2 debutants on the day in Abby Duffy and Aoife Connolly both acquitting themselves brilliantly

and will be a big addition to the squad. Aoife Cullen was assured in goal with good kickouts providing a platform for the Faughs attacking game. The full back line was imperious in tricky conditions with Louise O Connell excelling in her new role at corner back. Along with Moira and Ciara they were often impassable! The half back line was magnificent throughout and often the springboard for attack with wing half backs Abby and Sheena working tirelessly up and down the lines marshalled brilliantly by Máire at centre back. Kate and Laura provided the engine room for the team and their work rate and determination were infectious. Our half forward line were relentless in attack. Aoife, Orlaith and Sally were a constant thorn in the side of the Tyholland defence with the uprights coming to their rescue on several occasions. Shauna at full forward was a constant outlet and did a lot of hard work to provide scoring opportunities for those around her. She was supported ably by two very classy corner forwards in Arlene and Aoibhin who were clinical when they got their chances. All in all a thoroughly deserved victory and a great start to the Senior Ladies League.

RFL Men: The lads kept up the winning ways with a convincing win away to Cremartin on Sunday past. The Faughs got a goal in the 3rd minute to lead 0-3 to 0-1 and never lost that lead throughout the match. With good performances all over the pitch, the match ended on a scoreline Cremartin 0-13, Faughs 1-16.

Minor Boys: A strong second half performance enabled our minors to overcome a committed Inniskeen team last Tuesday and in doing so qualified for the league semi finals. Despite a slow start we led at half time by 6 points mainly due to the determination of Colm Bishop and smart finishing of our forwards. Further second half goals ensured a 5-13 to 2-7 victory. Strong performances by Joey Hughes, Caleb McArdle, Stephen Beattie and Kian O Connor.

Cul Camp: Over the next number of weeks, Monaghan Coaching & Games will be accepting applications for the position of Kellogg’s Cul Camp Coaches and Assistant Coaches for the 2018 camps.
