Club Notes June 4th

General: It was a quiet week for our senior and reserve men with no games. Wednesday 13th sees our B’s make a trip to Emyvale for a Round 8 game in the Division 1B League, while our senior men travel to Scotstown on Saturday, throw-in 7.00pm. Please come out to any of the matches to support the lads.

U14 Girls: Last week the U14 Girls had a home game on Tuesday evening against Truagh. With no matches lost to date the Blayney girls were looking for another win to have under their belts. With some steady play in all areas of the field they came out victorious.

On Monday night past, we fielded against O’Neill Shamrocks. O’Neills had home advantage and a good match was on the cards with a lot of these players knowing each other very well playing a lot of school football together. With most of the Blayney girls returning from the Camogie Feile weekend they had to dig deep against a strong O’Neills team that meant business. At half time we trailed by 5 points. The team re-grouped at half time and some changes were made. The Faughs girls came out fighting and the switches started to make a difference bringing the deficit to one point. O’Neills finished the strongest and although the Blayney goalkeeper pulled off some great saves, we finished on the losing side for the first time in the league. A lot was learned from the game played in great spirit and every player giving their all.

Next match is this Thursday evening – a home game against Emyvale so please come out and support the team.
