Club Notes November 2nd

Senior Men: In cold but dry conditions, our seniors took on Clontibret on Friday night past under the lights at St. Marys Park.

The Faughs had a much changed side and both teams had a big interest in this game but for different reasons – a win for us would have guaranteed a place in the play-offs, whilst a win for Clontibret would have dispelled any relegation worries. Clontibret seemed the much hungrier team and got off to the better start. The Faughs dug-in deep but Clontribret remained the side in control throughout the match. Unfortunately our lads went down on the night on a scoreline of Faughs 0-06, Clontribret 2-12. Results did not go our way the following Sunday as Latton overcame Truagh by the minimum to jump over us into fourth place – leaving us out of the play-offs.
Well done to all the team, management, backroom staff for all their hard work and endeavour this season. Lets hope we can build on developments this season and be stronger and more successful next season.

Well done: Well done to the Castleblayney Hurlers who reached the Ulster final with a determined win over Clonduff (Co. Down) on a scoreline of 2-14 to 3-07. The hurlers now face Antrim champions Cushendun in the final.

Well Done: Well done to our own Tom Miller who recently picked up a Healthy Club Hero award. Tom received his award from Brian Fenton at the annual National Healthy Club conference. A thoroughly deserved award for Tom who does trojan work throughout the year not only for the Faughs but the wider community in general. Congratulations Tom!

Thank you: Big thank you to all the people who donated, collected or cycled on Saturday for our Spinathon especially to McMahons Super Valu for the use of the premises and all the help and to Chang McKenna for use of the spin bikes. You all helped us raise €2,300 for the Castleblayney Cancer Society and St Mary’s Hospital.

Operation TransFAUGHSmation: Keep Sunday the 25th November 2018 free – this is the date for the 5K and a bumper crowd is expected to line out for this year’s event.

Underage Coaching: If anyone is interested in coaching with the club (any level), please contact any committee member. Volunteers are always very welcome and certainly make a big difference to the standard of sport within our club.
