Club Notes October 4th

Senior Men: With our involvement in the championship over for another year, attention turned to the league this week, with the aim to remain in top four. There were 2 games this week, a rearranged game with Scotstown on Wednesday and a match against Truagh on Saturday. The Faughs had a convincing win at home against a weakened

Scotstown side who maybe had their thoughts on the championship. But despite this the lads put in a good display and were in complete control throughout the match – kicking some great scores. Final score: Faughs 3-20, Scotstown 1-12.

The second match was another home game, this time against a Truagh team on Saturday who are also in the mix for a top four finish. The game was nip and tuck for most of the first half, but Traugh managed to get a 3-point advantage going in at half time, 0-9 to 0-6. The second half was a bit of a goal fest, with six goals being scored. The Faughs were playing catch-up for a lot of the second half and could even have snatched a win in the dying minutes. Unfortunately, Traugh’s third goal late in the match was the difference, and despite over five minutes of injury time the lads were unable to get anything out of the game. In a nail biting game, the final score was Faughs 3-14, Truagh 3-16. Next up is an away game with the Harps this coming Friday at 8.30 pm.

U12 Girls Cup Final : Our little starlets take to the pitch this Saturday morning to play Carrickmacross in the Cup Final. These two teams haven’t met this year in any competition but both sides will have got their homework done. The Blayney girls have had a good run under the watchful eye of their management team improving in each game. As the season comes to the end please come out and support the future of our ladies club. They have done themselves, families and their club proud to get this far. Let’s go out and enjoy and hopefully bring another trophy back to Fag an Bealach.
Venue is yet to be confirmed but we will advise as soon as we know.

Planning: As we near the end of the playing season, our thoughts turn to implementing plans that will help our club grow and become more successful in the future. With this in mind, our committee groups that were setup as a result of our 4 year Development Plan will begin meeting more regular. We have specific committees targeting: Community Health & Wellness, Scor & Irish Culture, Facilities Development, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Coaching and Games Development.

If you would like to be part of this effort in shaping the future of our club, please contact any of the committee members.
