Ladies Football:
Senior Ladies: Our Ladies were out on Friday 9th August in their first Senior Championship game away to Magheracloone. A lot of excitement around this game and it didn’t disappoint. It did start off slow but we were just tuning up the engine. The opening score of the game came from a point by Jodie McQuillan and our second score of the game came on the 20th minute with a goal from Aoibheann McCooey. That brought us up to half time and only scoring twice in the first half doesn’t take away the hard work that was put in. Going in at half time we were 3 points down – 1-01 to 0-07. Coming out in the second half Maghercloone started to extent their lead until our old reliable’s started to show, points from Hazel Hughes, Edel Murphy & Jodie, we started to close in until Maghercloones net was rattled once again by an unstoppable goal from Aimee Donnelly. At that we took the lead and didn’t look back. Aimee decided to try her chances again at another goal and she didn’t disappoint. The ref blew the full-time whistle on the 66th minute. Castleblayney Faughs 3-05 (14) Maghercloone 0-11 (11)

Mens Football:
Senior Men: Sunday 11th August, we seen our senior men in action in Round 1 of the Intermediate Football Championship away to Emyvale. A nail-biting game to say the least. We started off strong with our new recruits showing how things are done. Our first score came from a goal by Max McGinnity and our second with a point by Canice Murphy. After that in was point for point up until the 25th minute when Emyvale took at 2-point lead, going in at half time we were 1-04 to Emyvale’s 0-09. The second half started off much the same, point for point. On the 40th minute Jimmy Walsh saved a penalty but that didn’t stop Emyvale getting the ball past him on the 48th minute. The push was on and points from Benny, Robbie, Max & Canice brought it back to a draw on the 63rd minute. This is when the nail biting started, Emyvale got a free on the 20 and scored it easily, we went back up the field and hit the upright, came back out and the scrabble was on, shots were taken until eventually it fell and kicked wide. On the 65th minute the ref blew it up. Castleblayney Faughs 1-12 (15) Emyvale 1-13 (16)
