Castleblayney Faughs Club Notes 29/5/24

Senior Men: Our seniors were out on Saturday 25th in Round 5 of the Intermediate Football League. We didn’t have to travel far because we stayed in the parish to play our closest neighbours, Blackhill GFC. One might have thought the Castleblayney Show was on a bit earlier this year as the cars along the road were nearly backed up to the by-pass bridge. But no, it was a meeting of two local clubs. We started off good, opening up with a 3-point lead but as the game went on and the few frees Blackhill converted by the 23rd min of the first half, it was a draw – 4 points each. Going in at half time we led by 2 points – Faughs 0-06 Blackhill 0-04. Coming out for the second half we pulled away, by the 42nd minute we were up 0-09 to 0-04. Just before the final whistle we scored our 10th point as Blackhill were slowly creeping up, but their inaccuracy to score kept us with a two-point lead as the ref blew it up on the 65th minute. Points on the board. Full-Time score: Castleblayney Faughs 0-10 Blackhill 0-08.
