Castleblayney Faughs Club Notes 2/5/24

Ladies Football:

Senior Ladies: On Sunday 28th April our Senior ladies reserves had an away game to Magheracloone. Sometimes with a score-line like our own you’d come away with a win but unfortunately not. It was a very close game, point for point and goal for goal. But in the end goals win games. Magheracloone 4:07 (19) Castleblayney 3-08 (17)

Mens Football:

Senior Men: Our Senior men were out on Saturday 27th April in round 2 of the IFL with a home game to Truagh in St. Mary’s Park. In a game that took us nearly 20mins to score our first point, we were then on a roll. Bare in mind, Truagh had already scored 1:05 (8). We went in at half time 6 points down to a score-line of 1:07 to 4 points. There must have been words because in the second half we came out all gun blazing. Around the 40th we were 8 points down and scored our 5th point of the game followed by 5 more points uncontested. Then, 10mins to go it felt like déjà vu from 2 weeks before, when Monaghan’s County goal keeper was caught out and lobbed all the while we watched the ball role into the back of the net, same thing happened, we were within 3 points of Truagh and the goal brought it back to a 6-point gap, 2:10 – 0:10 points. From that we went on to score 3 more point to Truaghs no score. Only for their goal they hadn’t scored in 20mins, just like us in the first half. On the 64th minute the ref blew it up. Truagh 2:10 (16) Castleblayney Faughs 0:13 Points.

Next Match: Clones v Castleblayney Faughs – Saturday 4th May, Clones 7:00PM

Minor Boys: Our Minor B’s were away to Scotstown on Tuesday 30th April and in good old minor fashion it was an exciting game with plenty of goals. I think at one point near the end the ref was asked the score and he shuck is head. Scotstown ended up winning by 1 point, we think. But it was a great game of football. The game ended, Scotstown 6:10 (28) Castleblayney Faughs 7:06 (27)
