Club Notes 14th November

Operation TransFAUGHSmation: Last Sunday morning saw a big crowd take to the roads as Tom and his team prepared the participants in OPTFM for the 5K with a run on the race route. Can we ask each participant to take somebody along on the day of the run to take part; we would like to get as many people to take part as possible.

Mc Mahon Supervalu 5K: With the Mc Mahons Supervalu Castleblayney 5K fast approaching (26th November) there are lots of high vis running jackets at night time with folks getting in some important extra training. We would encourage the whole community to get involved, you don’t need to run to participate – we are looking for people to walk and support as much as we are looking for runners. The event which has now become part of the calendar of the Castleblayney area has developed each year, with an increased number of people competing in the event.
Please remember too there is a 2K race for all children Under 14 starting at 1pm while the main race will follow at 2pm. We are asking that every Club member participates on the day; registration is available online at www.castleblayneyfaughs.com or www.Runireland.com.

Juvenile Presentation: The Club will be running their Juvenile Presentation this coming Friday (17th) in the Glencarn Hotel at 7.00pm. We will be distributing all the Winners medals for 2016/2017. Can we ask that all players and parents attend for what always a special is evening in the Club Calendar. We would like all the players to come in their club gear on the night as we will be taking a number of team photos. This event is open to everyone so hopefully you can all come along.

Photos Needed: Joe Hanratty is presently updating the history of the Faughs club which was originally published in 1984, and is trying to track down team photos from 1985 to the present day. Photos would be scanned and returned to their owners expeditiously. They can be given to Joe or to any member of the committee. If people have photos and wish to scan them themselves and email them to Joe directly that would be great. If emailing photos would you please include team names and the year the photos was taken. If there is more information re; the match, competition and venue at which the photos were taken that would also be greatly appreciated. Photos can be emailed to jjhblayney@gmail.com or to Castleblayney Faughs secretary Melissa at the following email address secretary.castleblayney.monaghan@gaa.ie

Date for the Diary: Our Club AGM takes place Dec 1st, 7.30pm in the Castleblayney Enterprise Centre. There will be various reports from our different officers within the club. We encourage all of our members to attend – this is an important event within the club and is a great opportunity to raise any questions/issues on the night.

Thanks: A big thanks to Paul Finlay who give up his time to take a free taking training session on Saturday past at the pitch for our juveniles. In a well-attended event, Paul offered some great insights on the preparation and execution in the art of free taking. No doubt the boys and girls will take onboard the excellent advice and we will see a very high percentage of frees being pointed with both feet in the coming years.

Juvenile Training: The winter training schedule is well underway. As usual, we would be delighted to see new faces, so please spread the word. For more information on training please contact our Juvenile Officer, Brian Sherry, on 086 233 4287.
