Senior Men SFL: Our Seniors took to the field in an away game on Saturday past against an under-strength O’Neills side. We got of to a flying start and, to be honest, the game was over as a contest before half-time with the Faughs going in well ahead at the break. The lads played very open and exciting football which was great to watch with the majority of scores coming from open play with very few wides being kicked. Another important five points were picked up which still leaves our Div1 destiny in our own hands with only two games left. Final score O’Neills 0-09, Faughs 4-15.
SFC: All eyes now turn to the business end of the season as the championship gets underway. We take on Truagh on Sunday 25th, throw-in @ 5.00pm. This is part of a double header in Clontibret with Doohamlet taking on Scotstown at 3.30 at the same venue. This will surely be a close game if the league games are anything to go by, so best wishes to the whole team and management as they embark on another quest for championship glory.
Senior Ladies: History was made in Drumhowan on Friday evening past as our Ladies just got the better of a determined Killeevan in the championship S/F. The ladies can now look forward to a first ever championship final (the first of many we hope!). THe Faughs got off to a great start and were soon 1-04 to 0-01 up, but in a topsy-turvy game Killeevan came back. The lead changed multiple times but at the end of a mammoth struggle the Faughs came out on top with the minimum to spare after eleven minutes of injury time, Final score Killeevan 4-05, Faughs 1-15.
The ladies must now wait to see who they take on in the final with the other semi still to be played, but no doubt Paddy and his team will be working hard to get the girls into tip-top shape for the final irrespective of who they face. Congratulations to the ladies on a fantastic result and achievement!

U12 Girls
Another league Game was played last Wednesday night away to Eire Og. With a good panel of players choose from this match gave the management a chance to try players in different positions. It a better focus on the game in the second half the girls pulled away to win another match. Well done to all involved.
Training continues Monday evening at 6pm
Next match is this Wednesday evening at home to Donaghmoyne.
U16 Girls
With a place secured in the league final after a win over Emyvale this group of players turned their attention to The Championship. A home game on Monday evening saw them meet near rivals O Neill Shamrocks. Normally a close encounter is ensured when these two meet. Blayney dominated the first half and lead at half time 11 pts to 2pts. The second half continued with O Neills showing what they are capable of but it was The Blayney girls night with a decisive win at the end 1-15 to 4 pts. Next round is to Kileevan next Monday evening. Time and venue to be confirmed.
Training again Friday evening. Congratulations to our underage ladies who performed very well and played a major role in the seniors victory on Friday evening last in the Junior semi final.
Well Done: Well done to Hazel Hughes who took home gold in the All-Ireland athletic finals in the U14 800m. Hazel is a talented all-rounder and certainly deserves the gold for all her hard work and dedication. Well Done Hazel!
Well Done to fellow Faughs player Caoimhe McKee who represented Tipperary at half time on All-Ireland Final day in Croke Park. Again, Caoimhe is a talent in multiple codes and she played brilliantly on Sunday. Well Done Caoimhe!
Good Luck: Well done to all members who received exam results this week. Lets hope all the effort has paid off, and even if not, remember there are still plenty of options!
St. Mary’s Park Development:
Player participation is at an all time high in the history of the Faughs club seeing boys and girls from under six to senior levels using the playing facilities at St. Mary’s Park for training and matches. This has prompted the club executive under chairperson Mac Malone to turn its attention to the next phase of their development plan. This phase will see the building of a new playing field and running track at Onomy on the site of the former Castleblayney Golf Club adjacent to the current playing fields. The development will also incorporate a plan for the future development of 4 new dressing rooms with showers, two referees rooms, storage area for equipment, a gym facility as well as a social space for club members.
To help finance this development, we have launched a draw with a fantastic top prize of €12,000. One share of a ticket wins one sixth of the prize for the winning ticket drawn. Six shares wins the whole prize for the winning ticket. Example First Prize €12,000, one share wins €2000, six shares (a full ticket) wins €12,000. A full ticket costs €100.
