Faughs Friday Walking Club: As part of our 2016-2018 Strategic Plan, our Club wanted to extend their healthy club initiative and enrich the lives of every member of the local community. One such initiative is a walking/social activity which began two weeks ago. Each Friday walkers meet at 11.00am in St.Marys’ Park, to be followed by a social ‘cuppa’ in the Club Rooms. The only cost involved is the payment of the Club’s Annual Social Membership, which ensures every person is covered by Insurance. You are earnestly encouraged and welcome to join this club activity and meet and chat with old and new friends.

Boys Under 8: Thursday night saw the young under 8 boys take part in Go Games in Drumhowan, they played against Drumhowan, Donaghmoyne and Aughnamullen, and they played really well in all games showing some great determination and skill right throughout the morning, well done boys.

Boys Under 10: The lads had a round of Go Games in St Marys Park last Saturday when they entertained Scotstown, Clontibret and Truagh, with four teams of nine it meant that everyone got lots of game time, well done to the boys who competed well with all the other boys in their age groups.

Under 12 Boys: On Tuesday the U12 Development team played host to a spirited Truagh side in round 5 of their league campaign. Truagh piled some early pressure on the Faughs goal, and went ahead in the early stages. The young Faughs lads then settled, playing some good football with some fine scores from Shea Casey, Ben Mallon and Arnus Gleeson, to lead at half time 1-7 t0 0-2. In the second half the young Faughs lads played some excellent football against the breeze, notching some excellent scores, with some good performances from Jake McDonnell, Sean Bishop, Daniel Kerr, Liam Duffy, Joshua Conlon and Jake O’Connor winning plenty of possession up front. Arnus, Ultan and Cian finishing some fine moves, been well supported by Joshua Conlon, Shea Casey and Charlie McQuillan. In the 2nd half the lads really played some excellent football at times, taking some fine scores and remaining defensively solid. Girls Under 12: Our 12 Girls had a good win over O Neill Shamrocks on Monday night last. This is 3 wins in a row, having previous wins over Aughnamullen and Latton. The match was a tightly contested affair but the girls worked extremely hard to ensure the victory. The Team was Yasmin Tavey, Eimear McKernan, Roisin McEneaney, Aoibhe Bolger, Tori McGeough, Kiera Keenan, Ella Broderick, Aoife McGeough, Caoimhe Agnew, Aoibhean McCooey, Katie Rice, Grace Hanratty, Hazel Hughes, Eimear Mc Glynn, Holly Ward, Ellie Cumiskey and Katie Glynn. The next match is this Friday night at home to Donaghmoyne, throw in 6.30pm.

Boys Under 14: On Thursday evening the U14 Senior Team played Magheracloone at home which finished Blayney Faughs 4-07 Magheracloone 0-08. The Faughs started the quicker with Ryan McKearney and Conor Mulligan finding the net in the first 15 minutes. Our defence was very strong throughout with Senan O’Brien and Ian Kindlon marking very tight on the full back line. Conor Rice drove forward numerous times and with Conor McCooey and Paudi Heavin the wing half backs getting through a lot of hard work and putting tackles in, it made it difficult for Magheracloone. Centre forward Ciaran Coogan put in a hard working display always getting back to help out his defence. Cillian Hanratty made a lot of smart runs to get on the ball and had a hand in several of Blayney’s scores. Our full forward line of Fionnan Kelly and Conall McHugh worked well again together often having to make numerous runs to get free from the Magheracloone defence. Every ball that came in was won first time with the two boys always out in front and being difficult to mark. Our two hardworking Midfielders of Caleb McArdle and Ryan McKearney got through a mountain of work getting back to help out the defence then driving forward to support our attack and they always used the ball well. They were always an option for Adam Myles’s kick outs. Ciaran McEneaney was very impressive when he came on. Best for Blayney on the day was Senan O’Brien, Conor Mulligan and Caleb McArdle. Next Fixtures: This Saturday 2nd of July the Senior team is away to Carrick at 12pm and the Development team is away to Latton at 4pm. Team: Adam Myles, Senan O’Brien, Ian Kindlon, Conor Mc Cooey, Conor Rice, Paudi Heavin, Caleb McArdle, Ryan Mc Kearney, Cillian Hanratty, Ciaran Coogan, Conor Mulligan, Conall McHugh, Fionnan Kelly, Leo Maloney, Oisin Ward, Ciaran McEneaney, Pauric Bolger, Ethan Smith, John Joyce, Zach McArdle, Odhran McArdle, Keith Morgan, Kevin Rafferty, Shane Morris.
