Club Notes: June 8th 2016

Breakfast Morning: Last Sunday morning saw a great crowd turn up for the Clubs Big Breakfast, the senior players outshone themselves as they served up a great Irish Breakfast which set up the Monaghan supporters for their trip to Clones.

Senior Men: The Senior team play Clontibret on Friday 10th of June in St.Marys Park with a throw in time of 8pm.

Junior B: The B team took on Aughnamullen last Saturday in St.Marys Park, played in glorious sunshine the game proved to be a real cracker with both sides going at it full pelt from the start, we trailed by 1-12 to 1-6 at half time both teams continued their attacking strategy which led for a free flowing second half, with time up the game was a draw but unfortunately Aughnamullen sneaked the winner in injury time. Final Score Faughs 3-17 Aughnamullen 3-18.

50/50: This week’s winner of the €130 jackpot was Martin Traynor. Remember if you’re not in you can’t win; tickets are available to purchases in McMahons Supervalu at the weekend and off a Club Seller on Saturday night around the town.

Know Your Sport: After two events we have a group of 20 tied on maximum points of 350 points, we will publish the top five after the next round.

Under U12 Boys: Our young lads really gave it everything, getting better as the tournament progressed. They safely navigated a very tough group, pipped by a point by eventual winners of the Cup, Lavey. Having finished runner up in the 6 team group, it was on to the shield QF, against the Derry Club Watty Grahams. A real tough and battling performance saw the lads edge a tough encounter by 4 points. On to the semi final, here we met the Moy of Tyrone. Some of the football here was outstanding at times, and again these lads showed real character edging another closely fought encounter, to setup a Final meeting with O’Donnovan Rossa (Derry). The lads really turned on the style in the Final, some of their movement and possession play was a joy to watch. They were tenacious in the tackle when the lost possession, and their attacking and support play gained the plaudits they deserved from many Neutrals present. Overall, these young lads showed just how well they are progressing, and showed a real passion and desire to succeed.

Under 12 Girls: The first fixture of the season for our U12 girls is a home game against Aughnamullen this Saturday the 11th June 2016 with a throw in time of 1 p.m. (please note change of time).

Boys Under 14’s: The Senior Under 14 team lost away to Killanny last Saturday while our development team had a good win away to Scotstown.

Girls Under 14: The U14 Girls faced Donaghmoyne in the Division 1 League on Monday evening last. The girls knew this was going to be a very tough match but they were up for the task and they got the game off to a great start with an early goal. The Girls dug deep throughout the game and displayed some fantastic football, taking scores under extreme pressure. Donaghmoyne never gave up and battled hard to the final whistle to come within one point of the girls leaving a score line of 2-12 Faughs to 4-05 Donaghmoyne. It was a determined and improved team effort and another great win for the girls who have so far secured a victory in every game they have played in the Division 1 League.
