Club Notes, Mar 22nd 2016

Club Strategic Plan: The Club Development plan picked up some pace this week with five further groups meeting over the course of the week, to date there has been some great engagement and some very positive ideas that will keep the club going in the right direction for the next few years. We would ask that you all chip in with your ideas over the next few weeks as we strive to hit the next major deadline which in April 8th in the Our Ladys Concert Hall.

Senior Ladies: With a good draw against a strong Doohamlet the girls now have two upcoming games, the first of these is against Donaghmoyne C team in St.Marys Park, the game is currently scheduled for this Saturday 26th at 3pm, however this may change, so please watch social media for any changes. The next game will be against Carrickmacross on Sunday April 3rd with a throw in time of 2pm. Confirmation of fixtures and times will come through the Management team during the week.

Platinum Tanks RFL Div1B: Following our open day win against Aughnamullen we entertain Cremartin in round two of the league with a home game on Saturday 26th of March with a 4pm throw in.

Boys U12: Opposition: Carrickmacross. Venue: St Marys Park, 2pm and 3:15pm.
The BoysU12 Senior team commenced their 2016 Spring League campaign with a hard fought draw in a very competitive encounter with Carrickmacross. Carrick settled the better of the two teams and were first out of the blocks with some fine scores. The Blayney lads grew into the game and produced some moments of fine attacking play. Final Score was Faughs 0-15 Carrick 0-15. There were some notable performances from Niall Rice, Kealan McMahon and Charlie McQuillan. Teams and Scorers: Brandon McCague, Joe Carey, Ross Maguire, Ultan McMahon, Charlie McQuillan. Kealan McMahon 0-2, Niall Rice 0-6, Thomas Hughes 0-2, Callum Campbell, Conor Ruddy 0-4, Daniel McShane 0-1. Subs used: Nathan McArdle.
Next up was the U12 Development team; again this was another closely fought encounter between two well matched teams, who could not be separated at the final whistle. Ionut Lungu produced a confident display in goals, and the defence of Jake McDonnell, Callum Campbell, Nathan McArdle and Cian Malone worked tirelessly throughout. At midfield Sean Bishop and Charlie McQuillan were excellent throughout, while up front there were some good performances from Joshua Conlon, Ryan Mullen, Daniel Kerr, Jake O’Connor, Shea Casey and Daniel McShane. Scorers: Charlie McQuillan 0-4, Nathan McArdle 0-2, Sean Bishop 0-1, Joshua Conlon 0-1 and Ryan Mullen 0-1.
Next up for the U12 teams is a Home game for both teams versus Donaghmoyne on Saturday 2nd April.

Boys U14: The development team get their season under way this weekend when they travel to play Monaghan Harps in Gavin Duffy Park. This team is made up of under 12 and under 13 players; throw in time is 2pm, so if you are free please travel down to support. The senior teams’ next match will be in the Semi Final of the Championship when they boys will face the winners of
Clan Na Gael/Killanny; this match is a home game on Saturday 9th of April with a throw in time of 2pm.

Table Quiz: The Ladies are holding their Table Quiz on Friday 3rd of April in Iontas; this will be their fundraiser for the 2016 season. Teams are made up of four people costing €40 each, so let’s start gathering your teams. The quizmaster has been hard at work over the last few weekends pulling together lots of great questions. The first question will be asked at 7.30pm.

Monaghan V Donegal, St.Marys Park: With Monaghans’ last game in the Allianz Football League confirmed for St.Marys Park on Sunday April 3rd at 2pm, it will be all hands on deck over the next few weeks. Work has been on going over the during the close season with the Club Shop getting a face lift, new turn stiles built at the Dundalk Road side of the ground and the Club meeting rooms been redesigned for match day stewards. We had a successful lean up day last Saturday but will calling on everyone for a couple of evenings work to make sure that St.Marys Park is in excellent shape for the big game. Also we are calling on all Stewards to keep April 3rd free to help on the day itself.

Well Done: Over the last few weeks our coaches have been hard at work completing their foundation courses. The following are the people who completed their foundation, Bernie McMahon, Cara McDermott, Michael Agnew and Philip Treanor. We also had the following transition year students complete their foundation courses over the last few weeks, Aoife Cullen, Shaunine Rice, Erin Brady, Aine Clarke, Jack Callan, Gavin Kelly, Colin Merrick, Kian O Connor, Declan Hughes, Stephen Beattie, Mark Hughes and Francis McGeough. Well done to them all! Great to see such and interest in self-development, hopefully we can transfer this new found knowledge over to improved players on the pitch.
