Club Notes September 19th

Huge Congratulations to our U14 Girls, Plate Winners in the All Ireland U14s. Faughs 3-5 St. Endas 2-3. Well done girls – a fantastic achievement!

Lotto: Watch out this weekend as we are re-launching the Lotto. It has been a while since we last had Lotto, but we are hoping our new and improved Lotto will be just as successful. All monies raised will go directly to the development of our club. There will be sellers around town this weekend and we will be hosting an online option to play as well. We will be sending out more details as we get closer to the launch.

SFC Men: Our championship ambitions came to an end on Sunday past in Clontibret as we went down against Latton. In damp and slippery conditions we started brightly and were 5 up midway through the first half (0-06 to 0-01). Unfortunately we missed a few subsequent chances in the half and allowed Latton back into the game so much so we went in at the break ahead by only a point (0-08 to 0-07). The second half started fairly evenly – with both teams trading scores but a number of turnover scores turned the tide for Latton. This gave our opponents a bit of momentum and they took full advantage as they took the lead for the first time in the match half way through the second half. They would not relinquish the lead and eventually ran out victors with a final score Faughs 0-12, Latton 0-14. After a tough season the lads can take a deserved break and hopefully come out refreshed and ready for next season. A big plus for this season has been the introduction of younger talent who have blended into the team really well – so we commend Colm and his team for all their hard work and foresight this year and look to fruitful years ahead.

U12 girls: Massive well done to our U12 girls who advanced to the league final with a well deserved win over a talented Carrickmacross team on Thursday past. This is a fantastic group of girls who all love their football and we wish them the very best in the upcoming final.

Well done: Well done to the hurlers and the dual players in particular who were victorious in the U13 hurling final against a determined Carrick side. Congratulations lads!

Faughs Share Draw: With a chance to win €12,000 top prize (plus 5x€1,200 runner-up prizes), we would ask anyone and everyone associated with the club to purchase at least one ticket and help spread the word about our new Share Draw. A full ticket costs €100 and with only a maximum of 1200 tickets available, this is a great opportunity of winning a big cash prize as well as helping with the development of our much needed second pitch. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sharedraw.castleblayneyfaughs.com
