St.Pat 0-06 Faughs 0-13 (FT)
Thursday night saw the return of the U-16 league competition after the exam break. The young faughs took on a determined St.Patricks team in Drumhowan and managed to come out on top on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-6. A slow start to the game was contributed to by poor conditions and also a four week break. Solid defensive work in particular from Gearoid Coyle, James McAdam and Michael Hughes coupled with excellent shooting from Gavin Kelly and Robbie Hanratty and strong second half leadership from Francis McGeough got us over the line without ever hitting the highs of previous games. Evidence of our strong squad could be seen in the performances of Shane Ward, Kealan McKearnan and Conor Mulligan. We have now achieved our first goal of qualifying for the cup competition which will begin in three weeks. Next up is Carrick in the championship in two weeks. Best of luck to Kian and Craig who join up with the Ulster U-16 squad in Jordanstown for a two day training camp next week.
