Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 08/05/2023 

Senior Fixtures: Intermediate Football League round 4 Castleblayney Faugh’s v Toome on Saturday 13th May at 7pm at St. Mary’s Park, Castleblayney.

Round 5 Reserve League Castleblayney Faugh’s v Carrickmacross Emmets on Wednesday 17th May at 8pm in Carrickmacross. 

Pitch Fixtures: Ulster Minor Championship Monaghan v Armagh on Saturday at one o clock in St. Mary’s Park, Castleblayney.

U18 girls: Training Monday and Thursday from 7-8pm 

U15 boys: A busy week for the U15s with the Div1 team seeing their 3 game winning streak come to an end when a very determined Scotstown team came to St Mary’s park on Thursday last. In a game that swung both ways, the visitors finished the stronger to take the points.  

The Div5 team played the same opposition on Friday evening and in a great team performance, held out to take their first win of the year which was well deserved.  

On Saturday the squad took part in the Feile competition in Cloghan, winning their semi final V Donaghmoyne in a tight game, they faced Aughnamullen in the final. Against a strong wind in the first half, they went into second half 5pts down but rallied to close the gap to the minimum but just fell short on this occasion. It was a great effort by the team and many thanks to Monaghan Co Board for organising the day.  

U15 fixtures this week: 

Div 1 Team away to Carrickmacross on Thursday at 7.30. 

Div 5 Team way to Aughnamullen on Friday at 7.30. 

U12 girls: Training continues on Monday evening at St. Mary’s Park from 6:00-7:15pm. New players are always welcome. The leagues start this weekend. The Development team are away to Monaghan Harps on Friday evening (12th of May) with a 7pm throw-in. The A team start their league with a home fixture to O’Neill Shamrocks on Saturday, the time is to be confirmed. 

U11 boys: The U11’s played Magheracloone in the Spring League on Sat morning. It was a great physical encounter where both sides gave their all. Training continues on Thursdays at 6pm and Sat mornings at 9.30am. New players are always welcome. 

U10 girls: The girls U10 team played in their first blitz of the year in Magheracloone. It was a great mornings football. Training continues on Mondays at 6pm on the juvenile pitch. All new players welcome. 

U9 boys: Training continues on Thursday evenings at St. Mary’s Park from 6:00-7:15pm. New players are always welcome. Blitz in Inniskeen this Saturday meet at 9.30 in Inniskeen.

 

U8 girls: The U8 girls took part in their first blitz of the year in Magheraclone. For many of the girls this was their first blitz. A great morning of football and fun. Well done to all the girls. U8 girls training continues tevery Monday 6pm to 7pm on the Juvenile pitch. Everyone welcome and new faces welcome.

Under 7’s: Had their first blitz of the year on Saturday in aghnamullen & was a great morning fun. Under 6’s & 7’s move to the juvenile field this Thursday at 5.15. All new people faces welcome. 

Good luck: Best wishes to all the county teams playing in the next few weeks, especially our club players representing their county.  

Field notice: The main field is closed and will remain closed. 

Fitness: Both of our walking tracks are open every evening and fully lit from dusk until 9pm. No dogs allowed. 

Lotto: Lotto results Jackpot €6,300 wasn’t won, the numbers were 01, 03, 13, and 23. Next week’s jackpot is €6,400. The 4 lucky dips are James Martin, Francis McGuigan, Lorraine McMahon, and Joe Hanratty. Play online or at the lotto boxes in SuperValu, at Coyle pharmacy or Watters Londis. 

Bingo: Bingo continues each Wednesday at 8pm at Our Lady’s Secondary School concert hall. Great prizes. Parking at Iontas. See you there.

Advertising: There are a number of slots still available for signage around the field. Thank you so all our new sponsors for taking up signage at the pitch, they looked great on BBC and RTÉ during the recent televised game. For further information please contact any committee member.  

Volunteer: The club is seeking the assistance of event organisers, choreographers, and all-around helpers for our major fundraising event in November. If you feel u could help, please get in touch with any committee member. 

Referees: There are severe shortage of referees within Monaghan. A good supply of referees in needed to ensure the smooth running of our games. Anyone interested in refereeing to contact any coach or committee member. Thank you. 

Golf Classic: The club will be launching the Maurice Hanratty Cup Golf Classic in the next few weeks, please keep an eye on all social media. The club golf classic is booked for Concra Wood for May 20th. The club is calling on all golf enthusiasts to book their tee times in. Tee and green sponsorship are also available. 

Music Festival: The club music festival is taking place on the August Bank Holiday weekend. It kicks off on the Thursday night with a non-alcoholic teenage disco, followed by the Friday night headlined by the tumbling paddy’s, Saturday night headlined by the whistling Donkeys and Sunday headlined by Mike Denver. Lots more acts throughout the weekend.
