Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 15/08/2022

Seniors Men: On Sunday past we travelled to Latton in round 2 of the Senior Football Championship.  We got of to a great start and were soon 1-1 to no score courtesy of a Mark Kelly goal.  Latton fought back and they went in 1-10 to 1-06 up at half time.  We rallied and fought back in the second half and went a point 20 minutes into the second half but again Latton responded and went clear again.  With the Faughs 2 points down and chasing the game, Latton countered and got a last minute penalty to seal the win.

Next up we host Truagh this coming Saturday, throw-in at 4.00pm.

Senior Ladies: Played two challenge games in the last week as they prepare to open their 2022 Championship campaign at home to Monaghan Harps at 7pm in what promises to be a tough opener to a very tough campaign.

U16’s: The girls played the first round of the county championship Monday evening away against Truagh.  A blistering high energy start from the girls saw them race into a comfortable early lead. 3 early goals combined with 7 excellent points saw Blayney lead at half by 16 points.  Blayney battened down the hatches in the second half playing some wonderful free flowing football to run out winners by 19 points.

Well done to the team and management.  Training continues as usual.  Next game in 2 weeks.
