Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 20/06/2022

Seniors Men: Our senior men travelled to Inniskeen on Friday night past in search of league points.  Inniskeen raced into a big lead at the beginning which left us playing catch-up for the rest of the match.  Despite matching Inniskeen for the rest of the match we were not able to pull them back. We now have a few days to try and reduce the injury list before we welcome Scotstown to St. Mary’s Park on Tuesday 21st against old rivals Scotstown with a report in the next weeks Notes.

On a positive front our C team maintained their unbeaten season with another good win against Latton on Sunday past.  With both teams being down numbers the game was played with 13 aside.  Despite missing some goal changes and playing against the strong breeze ‘blayney went in 2 points up at half time 1-05 to 0-06 with Thomas raising the green flag.  This team certainly likes the goals and a further 3 were scored in the second half to leave the final score Latton 2-10, Faughs 4-11. Next up is a home game with neighbours Blackhill this Sunday at 2.00pm.

Seniors Ladies: Faughs Ladies didn’t have a game last week but next Sunday they are provisionally fixed to play Donaghmoyne in the Semi Final of the Reserve League at 11am but this may be subject to change.

U16’s: The girls played at home against Killanny on Monday evening. A blistering start by both teams but Killanny getting the scores on the board quicker than Blayney who missed a number of early goal chances. Half time score saw Killanny up 4-6 to 4-4.  The second half was similar to the first with scores exchanged but a purple patch saw Killanny pull ahead.  But true to form these Blayney Girls don’t know how to give up.  The last fifteen mins saw Blayney coming out the stronger team and pulling away with some fine scores and spirited team performance. Final score was 7-13 to 6-9 in favour of Blayney. Well done girls and management on a great performance.  Next training Friday evening at 6pm.

U12’s: The girls had no Spring League fixtures so the team hosted Mullaghbawn in a challenge match last Wednesday. Over 50 Faughs players took to the field with the U10’s also taking part. Well done to all the girls on what was a very enjoyable and tough test against a strong Mullaghbawn team. This weeks fixtures: A team are away to Maghercloone on Wednesday the 22nd with a 7pm throw-in. The Development team play Donaghmoyne at home on Friday the 24th with a 7pm throw-in. Training continues on Monday evening on the main pitch from 6-7:15.

Some of u12 & u10 players getting some advice from Sally and Ciara from the Faugh’s senior ladies team.

U7’s: The boys had a go games blitz in the field on Saturday last and these group of boys are showing great progress. There was fantastic skill and determination on show and it was a great morning fun for all the teams. We continue to train Thursdays at 6pm to 7pm in the field. New players are very welcome
