Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 23/05/2022

Seniors Men: Our seniors faced Latton at home at the weekend with a disappointing result for the lads, 0-12 to 2-15. Robbie Hanratty worked hard scoring the most points on the Faugh’s side. Hard luck lads. The next game is Friday 27th May at 8pm against Clontribret in Clontibret. Get out and cheer the team on!

Our Reserves hosted Aughnamullen in the league on Wednesday past.  This was the return leg after we had got the two points when we visited them earlier in the season.  It was score for score until the 22nd minute when the visitors got the a goal, but the lads kept plugging away to go in at halftime two points down, 0-06 to 1-05.

It was nip and tuck for all of the second half with score for score and neither team really taking control.  At the finish the goal made the difference with the visitors coming out on top 1-09 to 0-10.  Next up we are in O’Duffy Cup championship action as we entertain Latton to St. Mary’s Park this coming Wednesday the 25th, throw-in 7.45.

Senior Ladies: The Faughs Senior ladies had no game this weekend as the Ulster LGFA council made the unusual decision to cancel all games in the province due to the Ulster Final being on. Fixtures have not yet been confirmed for next week.

U16’s: U16 girls had a great performance tonight away to  Tyholland In a tightly fought game. 2 quick fired goals saw Blayney off to a great start and from there to half time an evenly fought game saw Blayney up by 6 points at half time.  Tyholland started the second half stronger and took some great scores.  Blayney rallied well and battled hard to keep pressure on.  At the end of the game the Blayney girls won by 8 points.  Another fantastic performance and a team definitely well worth coming out to see play.  Well done all involved.  Training continues as a group Friday evenings 6-7pm on the main pitch.

U15’s: Only one fixture last week where the 3rd team travelled to Corduff to take on their 2nd team. The first half started in a biblical rain shower that allowed the more physical home team to build up a lead by half time. In the second half the young Faughs team battled back into the game and adjusted to the conditions but fell short in the end.

Fixtures this week see the 3rd team host Aughnamullen at 7pm on Wednesday and the 2nd team travel to Scotstown on Friday at 7.30. Good luck to both teams in last games for number of weeks before the exam break.
