Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 09/05/2022

Seniors Men: Our seniors travelled to Donaghmoyne last weekend in search of league points.  Unfortunately, the lads lost the match.  Next up is a home game against Latton on Sunday 21st May at 7pm.

Senior Ladies: Faughs Senior ladies travelled to Killanny for their senior league round 3 game on Sunday morning. The old adage of a good start is half the battle proved true as the Faughs Ladies came flying out of the blocks and got a good lead up straight away which they didn’t relinquish against a Killanny team which didn’t reach their own usual levels. It was a strong team performance with all the 21 girls who played, doing well.

The ladies host Monaghan Harps next Sunday 15th May at 11am at St Mary’s Park, Castleblayney.

U17’s: Faugh’s v Carrick Tuesday 17th May at 7:30pm at St Mary’s Park, Castleblayney.

U15’s: Blayney U15 Boys had a productive week with two wins against Clontibret. First up the Div 1 team travelled to Clontibret on Thursday evening last and started well playing some very good football. They held and built upon this lead into the second half before the inevitable comeback from a strong side home side in the final quarter but some resolute defending saw the Blayney side home. It was a very good team team performance with a good spread of scorers and the backs also showing well. The Div1 team are at home V Donaghmoyne on Thursday 12th May at 7.30pm in round 6 of the Bogues foodhall league.

On Friday evening it was the turn of the Div 5A team to face the same opposition. This was a very close game throughout and was back to the walls for large parts of the second half but the blayney defence stood tall and a late flurry of scores saw the home side take the points in a well matched game. The Div5A team are at home on Friday evening 13th May at 7.30pm V Maghercloone in round 6 of the Bogues foodhall league.

U13’s: Faugh’s v Carrick Saturday 14th May at 11am in Carrick Emmets Div1 round 1.

Faugh’s v Donaghmoyne Saturday 14th May at 1:45pm in Donaghmoyne Div5 round 1.

U12’s: U12 Girls: The A team travelled to Latton on Friday evening. This was a low scoring game with both teams missing a number of goal chances to add to their scoring tally. Blayney held a narrow advance at half time and the second half followed a similar pattern with Blayney out scoring their opponents to come away with a very good win. Well done to all the squad, keep up the practice. Up next for this squad is an away trip to Donaghmoyne on Wednesday evening with a 7pm throw-in.

Our U-12 Development team travelled to Aughnamullen on Saturday morning for a game against the hosts (managed by former Blayney player David ‘Syd’ Connolly)  played in beautiful conditions. In a game that ebbed and flowed, the girls started the last period one point down but quickly raced into a commanding lead with some fantastic scores from the girls. Aughnamullen clawed their way back into the game to take the lead only for Blayney to get their noses ahead by one point as the game entered the final minute, however, one last attack saw Aughnamullen score a winning goal for a 2 point victory. It was a fantastic effort by the girls and they should be very proud of their performance. Well done to all 20 players involved. Final Score: Blayney 4-10 Aughnamullen 7-3. This squad play a home game against Brigid/O’Neills on Thursday, throw-in 6:30pm.

U7’s: Our u7 Boys had their first go games blitz on Saturday last in Cremartin where they played Cremartin, Monaghan harps and Clontibret.  On a lovely sunny day there was some great football played by our young stars and a fantastic time was had by everyone.
