Seniors Men: Our senior men faced Carrick Emmets in round one of the Loughman Sports Championship under the lights at St. Mary’s Park last Friday. We didn’t get the result we had hope for against the Emmets with a result of 2 goals 7 points v 9 points by our Faugh’s side. The lads worked hard and we look forward to seeing them come out stronger as the seasons continues. Next game for the team is against Donaghmoyne on Saturday 7th May in Donaghmoyne at 7pm.
Our 2nd reserve team made the short trip to neighbours Blackhill as we took on their reserve team on Wednesday night past. At the start of the 1st half it was point for point until Blackhill got a goal in the 24th minute. Ciaran and Odhran got the last 2 scores of the half to leave it 1-04 to 0-06 at the break. We looked a little sharper in the second half and 2 quick goals from Ultan and Ciaran after the opening point from Michael Hughes gave us a bit of breathing space. Martin Joyce came on and added some late scores along with Josh Conlon, Connor Ruddy and the McMahon lads to leave the final score 2-06 to 3-12 in our favour. Next game is away to Rockcorry on Wednesday 11th May at 8pm.
Senior Ladies: The Faughs Senior Ladies game last week was called off as a mark of respect following the tragic loss of Aoibhe Byrne and our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and all in Magheracloone GAA and LGFA at this sad time.
Next Sunday, the 8th May, the Senior Ladies travel to take on Kilanny at 11am.
U17’s: Next game round 1 of the league away to Scotstown Sunday 8th May at 11am.
U16’s: The girls played at home Monday against Scotstown. These girls continue to develop nicely as a team and had a great start to the game notching up some very good and well worked scores to put them comfortably up at half time. Second half saw Scotstown coming back with some of their own good scores but the Blayney girls came out on top to win their second match of the league on a score line of 7-16 to 5-5. Well done to all involved.
Training continues Friday for u16 panel 6-7 on the main pitch.
U15’s: Div1 team got back to winning ways with a good team performance leading to a victory over visitors Scotstown on a Thursday last. The Faughs didn’t have everything their own way and had to battle to the end to see off a determined Scotstown side but a strong final quarter say them home. They play away to Clontibret this Thursday evening 5th May at 7.30pm.
The Div5A side made the short trip to Donaghmoyne on Friday last and came away with the two points to continue their good run of form. Goals win games they say and this was the case with Joe Irwin keeping a clean sheet while at the other end the Blayney forwards found the net on 4 occasions to take the win against a very good Donaghmoyne team. They play Clontibret at home this Friday 6th May at 7.30pm.
The Div5B put in a very determined display and played some great football V the Harps second team on Wednesday last but the strength of the harps bench told as they finished well to take the win. But the young Faughs players once again battled to the end and continued their development, improving as the year goes on. They have a break this week and return to action next week.
U12’s: The A team travelled to Inniskeen last Wednesday and faced a stern test. The girls worked hard throughout and despite a spirted late rally from Inniskeen the blayney girls came out on top. Up next for this team is an away trip to Latton on Friday evening.
The development team started the season off with a tough game at home against a strong Kilkanny team. Despite the size and age difference the girls fought for every ball before losing out to the visitors. This team travel to Aughnamullen on Saturday for the next round.
U7’s: Great excitement building as our u7 commence their first go games this Saturday in Cremartin. All players are to be in Cremartin field for 9.30am on Saturday.
