Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 25/04/2022

Seniors Men: Best wishes to our senior men as they play their first game in the Loughman Sports Senior League.  We are hosting Carrickmacross on Friday night, 29th April, at 8.00pm. Please come out and support the lads.

Our reserves travelled to Killanny last week with an understrength team.  Despite a good showing from the team, unfortunately Killanny were just that bit too strong in the end. Despite the result we are still in a good position midway through the league. Next we face Magheracloone on Wednesday 4th May at 7:45pm in Magheracloone.

Our second reserves hosted Latton on Friday night past at St. Mary’s Park.  Despite being a bit understrength we were on top from the beginning.  The mix of young and old seems to be working well with this team and they remain unbeaten as we approach the halfway point of the league.  Well done lads.

Senior Ladies: The Senior ladies hosted Tyholland on Sunday the 24th of April as the Tyholland pitch is undergoing remedial works. The girls put in a strong performance with all 20 players togged out, showing well and the Faughs ladies securing the two points. They played some brilliant football as the went on to put up a good score against a good footballing side.

The ladies would like to thank the senior men and u17 boys teams and managements who facilitated them squeezing the game into a very busy pitch schedule

The girls are due to play Donaghmoyne B this weekend with the game provisionally scheduled for 6pm at The Faughs pitch but this may be subject to change so please check for up to date details closer to the time.

U19’s: Faugh’s v Óglaigh Naomh Buachin Corduff on Sunday 1st May at 2pm.

U18’s: Faugh’s v O’Neill Shamrocks away on Thursday 5th May at 7pm.

U16’s: Faugh’s v Scotstown at St. Mary’s Park on Monday 2nd May at 6:45pm.

U15’s: After 2 good wins, the 1st team suffered defeat away to the Harps on Thursday last. After a close opening quarter, the Harps slowly built a lead before a goal before half time give them a lead they never looked like losing. In credit to the Blayney team, they battled to the end and will come back stronger. They play Scotstown at St. Mary’s Park, Castleblayney on Thursday 28th April at 7.30pm.

The 2nd team continues their good run of form with a narrow 2pt win over a good Aughnamullen team in Blayney on Friday last. The game swung both ways throughout before some very good defending allowed Blayney get two late points to seal the win. They travel to Donaghmoyne this Friday 29th April at 7:30pm.

The 3rd team played Truagh second team on Sunday morning last and despite been short on numbers they played some brillant football to lead at half time. However, Truagh introduced some fresh legs in second half and it told as Blayney had to play a spell a man down and Truagh pulled ahead to win by 1point. However the young players involved in this team where very unlucky on the day. They play Harps 2nd team this Wednesday.

U13’s: Faugh’s v Carrick at St. Mary’s Park, Castleblayney on Friday 29th April at 6:30pm.

Faugh’s v Inniskeen in Inniskeen on Sunday 1st May at 11am.

U12’s: The A team played a home game against Corduff in their first Spring League game of the season. With Corduff playing some nice football in the first quater, Blayney settled into the game and came away with a win. This was a brilliant team performance by all the girls in the panel. The girls now look forward to playing an away game to Inniskeen this week. The Development team were due to play Maghercloone but unfortunately this game had to be cancelled. The Development team are due to play at home to Killanny this week.
