Festival: Last weekend saw the Faughs host their first ever music festival and what a huge overwhelming success it was. Three days was had of jam packed music with sixteen artists performing over the three days. We at the club executive would like to offer the sincerest of thanks to everybody who helped make this happen. Without so many people pulling together, it would not have been possible to make this event happen. Months of hard work reaped it’s reward, so much so, that the club was fit to announce that it will be run again next year on the weekend of 12th, 13th & 14th of August. Pencil them dates in now as we are sure once again it will be a weekend not to be missed.

Under 13s Win Final: The Blayney Under 13s had a comprehensive win in the Division One Shield in  Blackhill last Saturday when they overcame a very competitive Magheracloone side. A goal-fest was the power behind this impressive victory with Blayney hitting the Magheracloone net on six occasions and each time these goals stymied the best efforts of Magheracloone to come back. But the Mitchells soldiered on and chipped away with some excellent points. But their inability to  find the Blayney net was what made the decisive difference between the sides. The excellent and very skilful Tristan Nugent set the  ball rolling for Blayney  in the 2nd minute of the game with  his first goal. But undeterred  Magheracloone quickly responded with a point  two minutes later as the  game shaped up for a real battle and over the rest of the first quarter the teams    exchanged points on three occasions with Blayney points coming from Tristan Nugent (2) and Bryan Duffy.  Then following the water break Blayney hit a purple patch to register two goals and points. The goals came from Cathal Malone and Tristan Nugent  while Tiernan McGeough sent over the point to open up a nine point lead. But with grit and determination Magheracloone admirably picked themselves up, lead by the very impressive  Gearóid Murray and Kerr Matthews  who orchestrated a great response to   score four points to Blayney’s Alex McGinnity score to leave the score at halftime Blayney 3-5 Magheracloone 0-8.  It was Magheracloone who opened the second half strongly  to hit a goal and a point with the gaol coming from  Dean Tuite to narrow the gap to two points leaving it all now to play for. The Blayney response was decisive, hitting back with gaols from Bryan Duffy and Conaire Casey. Magheracloone pulled back two points before the second water break when Blayney was six points to the good. Magheracloone quickly narrowed the gap to five but when Tristan Nugent rocketed the ball to the Magheracloone net for his hat trick of goals that was effectively it.  Both sides scored points apiece before the end with the Blayney point coming from Tiernan McGeough leaving the score at the finish  Blayney 6-6 Magheracloone 1-13. Blayney Team: Donnchadh Murphy, Cooper McMahon, Harry McQuillan, Ruaidhrí Agnew, Kealan Dignam, Cathal Malone (1-0), Tiernan McGeough (0-2), Tom Duffy, Bryan Duffy (1-1), Conaire Casey (1-0),  Alex McGinnity (0-1),  Declan Flanagan, Tristan Nugent (3-2). Subs used: Steven Duffy, Ruarc Marray,  Ryan Corrigan
