Played at St. Oliver Plunkett Park, the lads were 0-3 to 0-0 before F Finnegan scored the first goal of the game. Kevin Mackin proved influential as he scored two further goals in the 11th minute and 17th minute. Further points from the lads left the half time score Emyvale 1-4, Castleblayney 3-8. After the restart an F McGeough goal effectively ended the game. Further points from F Finnegan and K Mackin left the final score Emyvale 1-6, Castleblayney 4-12.

Boys U-14 – The Senior and Development teams opened their league season away to Carrick on Saturday. First up was the senior team, early scores from Leo Maloney and Thomas Hughes gave the Faughs an early advantage, but a couple of goals for Carrick towards the latter stages of the first half helped them open up a lead they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. On the day the young lads couldn’t seem to get going in the 2nd half. Joe Carey, Kealan Mc Mahon and Thomas Hughes put in some fine individual performances throughout the game.
Next up was the Development team, the opening half was nip and tuck, with Carrick edging ahead at halftime with a late goal. The young lads battled well in the 2nd half, but a physically stronger Carrick side prevailed with a couple of late goals. Best on the day were Jason Campbell and Martin Joyce.

Next up for the Boys U-14 senior team will be the visit of Cremartin to St. Mary’s Park on Saturday 25th March at 2.00 pm.
