Club Notes 17/12/20

Lotto: There was no winner of this weeks Lotto. Numbers drawn were 21, 23, 24 & 25. Lucky dip this week went to Lorraine Carragher, Castleblayney. Next weeks draw is worth €8200. Remember keep playing and supporting your club on lotto.castleblayneyfaughs.com. All monies raised going towards our new development.

Bingo: Final bingo of the year is this Saturday @ 2.30pm in St. Marys Park and once again following strict Covid guidelines. As their was no winner last week, this weeks jackpot is now worth an impressive €4600 on 46 calls or less plus all the other usual cash prizes. We ask you all to try and support the bingo as all monies raised going towards the cost of our new development. A good win could ensure a very merry Christmas for someone. Our bingo book winners from last Saturday for this week’s bingo are Teresa O’Connell and Patsy Duffy of Tussy, Ballybay. Well done and hope to see you both again this week.

Pitch: Reminder that the Faughs pitch remains closed at present for the winter until further notice.

Winter training: The winter training program wraps up this week for the year. We thought at one stage it might not happen but every group ended up with five to six weeks of fun. Credit and thanks must go to the coaches for their dedication and commitment shown in giving everyone excellent, well structured, Covid compliant sessions. Also thanks to the parents and all players for making it easy for the sessions to run so smoothly. Numbers have been excellent and hope to see you all again in the new year.

Reminder: Joe Hanratty’s book “A Club and Its Community” is for sale in a good number of shops in the town at a cost of €25. Perfect stocking filler for someone who loves a good read. Sales have been excellent to date. Let’s keep it going.

Success: What a year for the club in winning the Youth Achievement Award at the Monaghan County Convention. As well as winning the boys minor championship Division 1, our u15 boys were joint winners Division 1 Championship and the girls won the Minor Championship Division 1 and joint winners of U16 Division 1. Also we have the proud record that every team entered this year at least qualified for their respective semi-final. Well done to all involved especially our hard working players and dedicated coaches. Surely success is not far away at senior level for both our ladies and men. Keep up the good work in 2021 and hopefully more silverware to come.

Condolences: This week we were again mourning the sad passing of Rosaleen O’Sullivan. Known by all, Rosaleen washed and prepared all the faughs jerserys for the last 32 years. Her late husband Dickie was a pivotal member of the Faughs having been involved at all levels in management and executive until his sad passing in 1999. We extend our deepest sympathy to Rosaleen’s children, Denise, Caroline, Kieran and Derek, to her sons and daughter in law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and all of the family circle. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
