Senior team The Senior team play Monaghan Harps on November 2nd at 12pm in St Marys Park, knowing that a win for either side will secure a semi-final place, can we ask that you come out and support the team.

Operation TransFAUGHSmation Friday night is Halloween night and in an effort to get into the party mood, the Faughs fitness team have pulled together an 80’style fancy dress circuits in Rath Na nOg. The crew have asked that we tell people not to fret about the outfit as fancy dress is optional but recommended that either way is a good laugh and a good workout is assured. Now that sounds like fun! Sunday will once more see all the walkers, runners and cyclists meet for that brilliant forty minutes class before that lovely Sunday dinner. The Faughs Senior team are playing in the field on Sunday at 12pm so we will confirm the venue and time by text during the week. The coaches have been bowled over by the improvements by all so far and they ask that everybody keeps it going through the mid term break.

Team Jazza V Team Tom Last week proved to be one of the busiest weeks of the year with the Operation TransFaughsmation Charity Cycle in the Glencarn Shopping Centre being without doubt the highlight. This event which was tentatively muted by the Faughs crew back in August grew to become a huge success and with assistance from Muckno Tri and a number of other groups in the town the event succeeded in raising over €3200 with donations still coming in and 100℅ of this going to the TransFaughsmation’s nominated charities for 2014, namely St Marys Hospital and the Castleblayney Cancer Society. Those present kept 10 bikes peddling from 10am till 5pm with queues all day made up of people willing to do their bit. Five Firebrigade men in full uniform was one of the many sights to remember. Community Spirit is certainly alive and well in Blayney and this was reflected in the wonderful atmosphere throughout the day. From the start of Operation TransFaughsmation it has being one of the groups aims to help build this Community Spirit as well as improving the health and fitness of our area. The cyclists, collectors and those who donated are to be commended for giving up their time and money in such good spirit.

Well Done This week has seen many fantastic achievements on the sporting front in Castleblayney. On Friday evening Club Dual Player Mark Treanor received a Nicky Rackard All-star for his performances for the Monaghan Hurlers during the season. On Sunday afternoon the Castleblayney Hurlers travelled to Dungannon to play in the Ulster Final and a strong second half performance saw the men in Green and Gold come away with the Ulster Club Title which was another outstanding achievement. And as if that wasn’t enough, Dublin City was invaded by a huge crowd of runners from the Castleblayney area as they took part in the Dublin City Marathon. Well done to all the people involved in these successes, it real goes to show that Castleblayney is full of not only talented people but also full of talented athletes.
