Tyholland got off to a good start but a goal from Gerry Brady gave Blayney the lead and they never looked back. There were some strong performances from the younger members of the team such as Daniel Mc Carthy, Mark Kelly, Ross Byrne in defence, while Mark Connor, Aiden McElroy, Jason Walsh, Ronan McNamara and in particular Brandon Rice showed great promise in attack. Top scorers on the day were Aiden Mc Elroy with 5 points and a goal and a point each from Ronan McNamara and Gerry Brady. The next outing will be next Saturday against Aughnamullen.

Boys Under 14 – The boys had two home games on Saturday with the Development team up first to play Tyholland , the Faughs had the strong breeze on their backs in the first half and played some lovely kicking football but concede two late goals to go in down four points . The second half saw the boys work extremely hard with a strong performance from Fionan Kelly, Caleb Mc Ardle and Senan O’Brien but a couple of goals near the end of the game by Tyholland saw them emerge with the two points. Next up were the Senior Team who played Inniskeen with the aid of the strong breeze in the first half and it didn’t take them long to settle as Conor Mulligan score a goal within 40 seconds, some nice scores by the impressive Robbie Hanratty and Joshua Mone saw the Faughs open a comfortable gap at half time . The second half the Faughs played against the breeze and they changed their style of play to adapt to the conditions, their running game was great to watch but the coaching team will be working hard on the shooting over the next few weeks to continue their improvement . Best for the Faughs on a good winning performance were Gearoid Coyle and Michael Hughes with Eoghan Casey and Max Rogers impressing in the middle of the field while up front Niall Carville with three goals and some tough tackling was well supported by Conall Mc Hugh. Next up for Development team is an away game against Corduff this Thursday night at 6.30pm followed by a game against Cremartin on Saturday 11th of April in St Marys Park at 2pm while the Senior team will play either Scotstown or Monaghan Harps in the Division 1 Championship Semi Final in St Marys Park on the same afternoon with throw in at 3.15pm.
