Senior Championship Rd2: On a showery Sunday last our senior men were aiming to get their season back on track when they travelled to meet Carrickmacross. A bright start with a point from the boot of Marty inside the first minute but Carrick responded with a quickfire goal of their own from the boot of Aaron Lynch. The next fifteen minutes it was Carrick who continued on top adding another four points to their tally with our only response a pointed free from the boot of Robbie. That was to be our only other score in the first half with Carrick tapping over another two. Half time Carrick 1-06 Blayney 0-02. The 2nd half began with little change with Carrick continuing were they left off in the first half by adding another three points to Blayneys one in reply. The end of the third quarter saw our best period of the game and we managed to get a few more points on the board but some poor shooting and strong Carrick defending ment that again it wasn’t to be our day with the final score been Carrick 1-12 Blayney 0-08. Next match for the men is fixed for the 16/08/20 V Scotstown at home were a win is vital.

U13 boys report: Thanks again to Max McGinnity for the U13 updates and reports. Keep them coming. All three of the Blayney U13 teams were in action again this Saturday with mixed results. The first team out were the Division 1 team who came up against a very strong Monaghan Harps outfit. It was a very tight first half affair with Blayney leading by a point at the first waterbreak. A couple of scores from the Harps meant they were 1-7 to 1-4 up at Half Time. The boys battled on and never gave in but a couple of key absentees proved vital with the Harps running out convincing winners in the end. Lorcan Mone lead the scoring with 2-2. Daithi Kelly and Tiernan McGeough were also impressive for the Faughs. Final Score Blayney 3-6 to Harps 6-10. The Division 5 team also played the Harps in St Mary’s Park on Saturday. This team ran out convincing winners on the day. The Harps were no match for this very strong Blayney outfit. Every player put in an incredible shift. Declan Flanagan, Alex McGinnity, Theo McMahon and Cormac McMahon were especially impressive on the day. Final Score Blayney 11-11 Harps 3-8. The Division 6 team had to travel to Corduff on Saturday for their game. These boys faced a well oiled Corduff side but were very unlucky with Corduff winning by 2 points. This was the first outing for some of our U11 players who gave a good account of themselves. Final Score Corduff 3-11 Blayney 2-12
