Club Notes – August 27th

Senior Ladies: Our ladies are training hard for a maiden championship final this coming Friday in Inniskeen, throw-in 7.00pm.

They play St. Bridget’s (an amalgamation between Ballybay and Drunhowan). As part of the buildup, the ladies are cooking dinner for everyone on Wednesday night from 5.00pm to 8.00pm in Iontas. Best of luck to everyone involved in the final – lets hope the ladies bring home the championship silverware. The ladies would appreciate any and all support at the game.

Senior Men SFL: After the ups and downs of the previous few weeks in the league, our senior men took to the field against Truagh Gaels in Clontibret on Sunday past in the first round of the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship. Truagh started off the strongest and only for the heroics of keeper Ciaran we could have been 3 goals down very early on. Not the most positive start, but with three championship debutants the lads soon got into their rhythm and were soon 2 points to no score to the good. The first half was an evenly matched contest and that was reflected in the half time score as we went in all square Truagh 1-06, Faughs 0-09. Unfortunately in the second half Truagh were much the stronger team, so much so, that by the middle of the half we were 10 down and the match effectively over as a contest. In fairness we we did rack up a respectable score, but Truagh went on to win convincingly on a scoreline Truagh 4-15, Faughs 2-12.
We now turn our attention to the backdoor where we meet close neighbours Doohamlet this coming Saturday, throw-in 5.30pm
This is the second part of a double header in Clontibret with Ballybay taking on Inniskeen in the first match, throw-in 4.00pm
