Club Notes July 19th

U13 Boys: In the Gerry’s Pre Veg & Take-away U13 Div5 Final a young Blayney team give a terrific team performance despite been short a number of regulars. An early goal give them a good start but a number of missed chances allowed the Harps back into the game and it took some resolute defending at the back to keep the lead intact. Blayney tagged some late scores towards half time to build up a good lead at the break. The second half started as the first finished with Blayney playing some lovely football but once again Harps came strong and got a goal and a few points that suggested the game wasn’t over yet. However, the Blayney lads lifted their game once again and tagged on a number of great team scores to secure a very well deserved victory with all the players playing a big part in the win.

Boys U15: Coming off a great result last week against potential contenders Magheracloone, the Faugh’s U15s produced a convincing performance against Monaghan Harps on Thursday night to win by 30 points. This team are really peaking at the right moment and are a joy to watch in full flow. This is an adventurous team whose first thought is always attack. The Harps had no answer to our constant onslaught and kicking skills displayed by our boys. This result elevated us to top spot and guaranteed us a place in the Division 1 Cup Final. We would appreciate good support for this final which will take place on the 25th July at 7.30pm. These are boys to be proud of in our club and they would really appreciate your support on final day to get us over the line.

U12 Girls: U12 girls played last Friday evening against Magheracloone who proved too for our girls. The second half performance was better with the girls getting a little more into the game.
Training continues every Monday evening 6-7pm

U14 Girls: U14 girls had a home game against O’Neill Shamrocks last Wednesday evening in a play off match to see who would qualify for the last semi final place. In their last meeting O Neill’s came out on top so Blayney had a point to prove. As usual when these two teams meet its a tough match and not much between them. At the final whistle it was the Faughs who came out winners and advance to the semi final match against Carrickmacross.
Training continues every Monday evening 7-8pm

U16 girls: U16 girls played Monday night in a home game against Scotstown. It was nip and tuck between the two for most of the first half but then The Blayney girls started to pull away. With a lot of u16 girls away the u14s girls had to step up and proved more than able. Well done everyone. Training continues Monday and Friday evenings

Coming Up: Our Div3 Reserves take on old foes Scotstown in the semi-final on Wednesday 24th @ 7.30pm, whilst our U15 boys have a Div1 Cup Final on Thursday 25th @ 7.30. Both teams would appreciate all the support we can give them.

Well Done: Well done and congratulations to the Monaghan Minors and our own coach Mark O’Connor who won the Ulster championship in Armagh this past wekeend with a hard fought win over Tyrone.

St. Mary’s Park Development: The club executive committee have agreed to move forward with efforts to progress work on the much needed second pitch. Watch out for announcements over the coming weeks as we seek to raise some much needed funds to help us reach our dream of a second playing pitch and associated facilities. We are hoping that everyone associated with the club can play some (whether large or small) part in this vitally important project.
