Club Notes June 26

U11 Boys: The lads played at home last Friday night against Corduff , on what was a lovely evening. Both teams served up some excellent football with Corduff narrowly winning the first game while the Faughs won the second match.

On Saturday the Under 10 boys travelled to Shane O Neills in Camlough to play in their annual tournament. After four wins we topped our group and a further two wins saw us advance to the semi final were we exited to Fr Rocks from Cookstown . Well done to all the boys who played over the two days.

SFL Men: In the re-arranged league game, our senior men had a good win away to Clontibret. Played in warm sunny conditions, the Faughs were quick to get into a nice rhythm and were soon up 0-1 to 0-5. The lads would not relinquish this lead and actually extended it throughout the match. Having been in control throughout the match, the Faughs ran out convincing winners on a scoreline Clontibret 0-7, Faughs 1-18. Lets hope the lads take this good form into the upcoming games.

U14 Girls: Our U14 girls had an impressive win over Emyvale in their last match ensuring them a place in the semifinals. Next match against Donaghamoyne Monday 2nd July, with the semifinal fixed for 23rd July – further details to follow.
Training continues Monday and Friday after a well earned week off

U15 Boys: The Faughs U15 Boys continued their winning run with a hard-fought win over Scotstown last Thursday in St Marys park.

The lads took a while to settle in the game and find their now customary rhythm, with some rustiness evident early on, following the recent break for exams. Playing with the breeze in the first half, the Faughs went in at half time with a slender 2-point advantage, following some fine first half scores from Niall Rice, Thomas Hughes and Leo Maloney. In the 2nd half the Faughs lads started brightly and began pull away from Scotstown with some excellent scores from Charlie McQuillan and Martin Joyce. Some of the forward play in the 2nd half was a joy to watch, with the young Faughs lads running out deserving winners on a scoreline of Faughs 4-9 Scotstown 3-6.

The lads are away to Latton on Thursday evening in their next league game.

U13 Boys: The under 13 development team exited the Division 5 Championship last Friday evening against Carrickmacross. The boys were in the game right up to the last minute when Carrick scored a goal to see them advance to the final. We have two league games remaining which will be played over the next month. The Under 13 Senior Team are at home this Tuesday the 26th of June against Clones at 7.15pm – we played the same opposition last May with the minimum between the sides on that occasion – no doubt this will be another close encounter.
