Reserves: Our 2 senior men reserve teams were in championship action this past week. First up on Friday past the lads took on Killanny in the O’Duffy Cup Q/F.

The Faughs took control right from the throw-in and in a commanding performance were 3-6 to a point up by half time. The lads ran took the foot off the pedal in the second period a little bit with a final score of Faughs 3-09, Killanny 1-11.
In the other Q/F game in the McKeown Cup we took on Sean McDermotts on Sunday past. Again we were out of the traps quickly with a half time score ‘Blayney 3-04, Sean’s 0-06. Sean’s staged a rally in the second half but we had too much in hand, running out winners on a scoreline Sean’s 1-11, Faughs 3-09.
We now look forward to semi-finals for both our reserve teams.

U14 Ladies: U14 girls team were out on Monday night against Magheracloone in what was a must win match to give them a chance of making top 4s. A spirited start saw them score some well taken points before Magheracloone scored their first goal. A well contested first half from both teams saw Blayney go in at half time leading the match. Second half continued with both teams giving it their all but determination from Blayney help them pull away. Magheracloone never gave up and scored two goals narrowing the gap in the closing 10 minutes. The Blayney girls refocused and added another goal and a point to get their first league win. A boost for their confidence and a reminder of what they can do. Well done girls.
Training continues Monday and Friday evening.

U11 Boys: Our lads travelled to UCD in Dublin on Sunday past to take part in the annual Kilmacud blitz. With 12 teams representing all four provinces we were in good company. The boys played some wonderful football and topped their group with 3 wins out of 3 in the group stage, with wins over Oranmore, Galway; St. Colmcilles, Meath; and Portmarnock, Dublin. With a 100% record, the lads went on to contest to “A” final and played out a tough game against against a very strong Kilmacud A team. Despite a heroic fightback in the second half we narrowly missed on on winning the tournamant as a whole, but we did come back with many plaudits. Well done to the lads!
