McMahons Supervalu sign up as sponsor for Castleblayney 5k

Castleblayney Faughs are delighted yet again to announce that McMahons Supervalu have come on board as the main sponsor of the Castleblayney 5K walk/run happens on Sunday the 30th November 2pm. The Supervalu Castleblayney 5K which is now in its fourth year has proven to be one of the biggest events in the local community as well as an established event for all local athletes. The walk/run, which will mark the end of the 12-week training programme called “Operation TransFAUGHSmation” was put in place as a target for the participants to test their fitness by either walking or running the route. This year the fitness programme has attracted over 250 participants and it’s anticipated with the progress they have made to date, that all 250 will be able to complete the challenge.
The event which has now become part of the calendar of the Castleblayney area, has developed each year with an increased number of runners competing at every event while also attracting such fitness celebrities as Gerry Duffy, Catherina Mc Kiernan, Ken Whitelaw, Owen Lennon, Therese Scott and Dr.Niall Moyna for the questions and answers session in the Glencarn Hotel directly after the run.
Pete McMahon owner of McMahons Supervalu was delighted to once again be associated with such a great event, speaking at the Operation TransFAUGHmation Charity Cycle on Saturday Pete said “ The Castleblayney 5K and indeed Operation TransFAUGHSmation are great community events. Everyone that attends the 5K always talks about the great sense of community we have in Castleblayney, so to be able to make a contribution to the success of the event is great. We have been working in Supervalu with the clubs fitness and dietary experts to insure that our store offers people healthy eating options at a good price.” Pete who ran the race last year in under twenty minutes was also the first member of the large Supervalu Team to cross the line.
Operation TransFAUGHSmation leader and Faughs Legend Jason Hughes who delivers the fitness programme expressed his sincere gratitude to Pete, “McMahons Supervalu is a great supporter to so many community events, we really appreciate the support the Faughs Club receive from Pete. Without sponsorship events like ours won’t be able to take place, it also allows us to do other things which improve the experience for the Runner/Walkers such as chipping the race”
The Mc Mahons Supervalu Castleblayney 5K is open to everyone and the Faughs club very much encourage all locals to don their runners and join in on the fun, the run is a real good community day. Further details on the event will be published over the next number of weeks.
