Fixtures U19’s: Faugh’s v Carrick at Carrickmacross Emmets on Saturday 19th March at 5pm in Div 1, Martin Fox Contractors, Round 1.

Faugh’s v Aughnamullen: Our RFL 1B campaign began at a wet and windy Aughnamullen on Saturday past.  The Faughs started strong aided by a fortuitous Niall Rice goal but Aughnamullen dug in and came back strong in the latter part of the half.  Our hosts went in at the break a point ahead.  Goals win matches and in the second half substitute Odhran McArdle raised the green flag after some great interplay from the team.  Aughnamullen fought to the end but Castleblayney went home with the points on a scoreline Aughnamullen 0-10, Castleblayney 2-07.

Next up in RFL 1B is a home game against Ballybay weekend after next.

Bingo: Bingo continues every Wednesday at 8pm taking place at our usual venue; Our Lady’s Secondary School concert hall, Casttleblayney with parking at Iontas. We have raised the stakes and increased our prizes so for a line you win €50 and for a house you win €100. We have also introduced a new winner takes all sheet and if the jackpot is not won the house winner prize is now €250.

Cairde: Now due, all members are asked to renew their annual payment of €300 or go DD of €25 per month. This is a vital support for the club, thank you to all those who are cairde members.

Congratulations: To the 2020 and 2021 recipients at the County GAA awards last Friday. Hall of fame  Eamon McEneaney and Declan Flanagan. Club Youth Achievement Award for football and Special Merit award to Gerry Fitzpatrick. Congratulations also to Dermot Malone who retired from county senior team. Congratulation also, to our own Raymond “Bugsy” Malone on receiving his Referee of the Year awards for both 2020 and 2021. And well done to both Mark Treanor and Fergal Rafter who picked up hurling awards.

Congratulations:  To our County minors in a good win V Armagh and Our County u20s on a spirited performance against Westmeath, and the senior County team on a superb win v Donegal.

Sympathy: The club would like to sympathise with the family of Brendan Johnston whose funeral mass was this morning in Dundalk and internment in Lathlurcan Cemetary this afternoon. He trained the Faugh’s in the late 70s. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Get well: The club wishes Joe Carey a speedy recovery.

Music Festival: Tickets are on sale NOW! The dates for this year’s festival are Friday 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July. It’s been confirmed, Philomena Begley will continue her 60yrs of success in the music industry at this year’s Country music festival in Castleblayney on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Walking track: The lights for the walking track have been officially switched on this week and will be lit from 5-9pm every day. This is open to anyone in the community who wishes to use the walking track amenity. Please note dogs are not permitted on the grounds.
