Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 21/03/2022

Fixtures Seniors: Faugh’s v Ballybay at St. Mary’s Parks, Castleblayney, on Friday 25th March at 8pm in the Reserve Football League Div 1B Platinum Tanks Round 2.

Fixtures U13’s: Faugh’s v Aughnamullen at St. Mary’s Park, Castleblayney on Saturday 26th March in the Spring League Competition Round 1. A team play at 12noon and the B team at 1:15pm.

U19’s Faugh’s v Carrick: Our U19s made the trip away to Carrickmacross on Saturday evening past. Despite being down a lot of players due to county commitments our lads put in a determined shift against a full-strength Carrick team. Unfortunately, we came out second best on a score of 2-13 to 1-06.

While we wait in anticipation of the senior League starting in April the RFL 1B continues this weekend with a home fixture on Friday night against Ballybay under the lights, throw in @ 8.00.

Faugh’s Summer Camp: Save the date for the summer camp: 10th-13th August.

U10 Girls: (2013 & 2012) Every Monday 6-7pm at Our Lady’s Astro Turf

U11 Boys: (2012 – 2011) Every Thursday 5:30–6:30pm at Castleblayney Boys School Astro

U12 Girls: (2011 & 2010) Every Monday 7-8pm at Our Lady’s Astro Turf

Membership: Now that football has started back registration must be completed ASAP. You can do it online at: ReturnToPlay.gaa.ie and we encourage you to sign up this way.

Lotto: This week’s winning numbers are: 06, 10, 15, 22. The four €25 lucky dip winners are: Natalie Noone, Darren McQuillan, Bernie Crowe, Paraic Carson. Next week’s jackpot is €8,400. Lotto ticket volunteers also required for weekend lotto sales around the public houses, please let us know if you are able to help out with this.

Bingo: The increase in prize money is really attracting the bingo players. With over €2000 in prize money every week before the jackpot this is a weekly event not to be missed. 8pm every Wednesday night Our Lady’s Concert Hall.

Golf Classic: Castleblayney Faugh’s Golf Classic will take place on Friday 20th May, at Concra Wood golf course, the Maurice Hanratty Cup will be up for grabs for the winning team. The club is looking to form a committee to help organise this event, anyone interested please make yourself known to any committee member.

Cairde: Now due, all members are asked to renew their annual payment of €300 or go DD of €25 per month. This is a vital support for the club, thank you to all those who are cairde members.

Congratulations:  To all the boys who were selected for the county Development squads at all age groups. You are doing the club proud and we wish you the best in the coming weeks.

Gaeltacht Scholarships: Coiste Cultúir & Gaeilge Chontae Mhuineacháin each year offer Scholarship for young members in the Clubs to attend Gaeltacha to enhance and broaden their skill as Gaeilge and to promote Gaeilge in Clubs and as a whole in the County. Music Festival: Tickets are on sale NOW! The dates for this year’s festival are Friday 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July. It’s been confirmed, Philomena Begley will continue her 60yrs of success in the music industry at this year’s Country music festival in Castleblayney on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Line up also includes: Nathan Carter, Mike Denver, The Whistlin’ Donkey’s, Johnny Brady, The Urge, Eamon Toal and many more…Tickets can be purchased online at: Castleblayneymusicfestival.ie

Walking track: The lights for the walking track have been officially switched on this week and will be lit from 5-9pm every day. This is open to anyone in the community who wishes to use the walking track amenity. Please note dogs are not permitted on the grounds.

Advertising: We now have availability around the field for adverts up for grabs. If you would like more information on how to advertise with us, please ask any committee member.

Volunteer: Our various committees are already busy working hard for next season. Anyone interested in helping out as a volunteer or as a coach please contact any committee member, we would love to have you on board.
