Club Notes 11 April 2017

SFL Rd1: Our seniors got their league campaign off to great start with a well deserved win over Truagh last Wednesday night under the new floodlights. The match ended on a scoreline of Faughs 3-11 to Truagh 2-9 with good performances all over the pitch. Next up for the lads is another home match against Ballybay on Wednesday 12th April with a throw-in at 8.00 pm.

U12: The senior under 12 team played their second match against Monaghan Harps on Saturday morning. The early stages were tightly contested with both teams matching each other score for score. As the half progressed Monaghan mobility caused us problems and they asserted control of proceedings. This pattern continued in the second half with Monaghan running out comfortable winners. The score line did not reflect a great effort by this team in a losing battle and gives much to be positive for their coaches moving forward. Best on the day for faughs were Jake McDonnell, Shea Casey and Cian Malone.

The under 12 development had their third outing of the year against a strong Monaghan Harps side. Playing against a superior side our boys battled gamely with significant individual improvement in performance very much visible. This team has much room for improvement and this is being achieved with each passing game. Best on the day for faughs were Shane Miller, Cormac Conlon and Cian Cooke

U10: This week sees our Under 10 travel to Scotstown for a challenge game , the boys will leave St Marys Park at 9am with throw in at Killmore , Scotstown at 10am, this will be the first time that these young lads have played this year so why not come along and support. The next game will be the first Go Games Blitz of the year , with the team travel to Monaghan along with the Under 8’s on Saturday 29th of April.

U14: The Under 14 team suffered heavy defeat to Magheracloone last Saturday in St Marys Park , these young lads are struggling for physical size yet in fairness to them they never give up last Saturday, their next game is away to Monaghan Harps on Saturday 22nd of April with a throw in time of 2pm . The Development team recorded their first victory of the year when the beat Scotstown last Saturday, their next game is also away to Monaghan on Saturday 22nd of April with a 3.15pm throw in time.

U16: The Under 16 Senior team went down to Monaghan Harps last Thursday evening , in a game which the Faughs look to be in control off they somehow managed to let it slip and let the Harps come back for a one point win , the Senior Team are out again this week then they make the short trip to Toome to play Clan Na Gael (Oram/Toome) at 7pm , while the Development Team make the trip to Rockcorry with a throw in time of 7pm.

Minor Team: The Minor team continued on their winning ways last week when they defeated St Tiernachs (Clones/Killeevan) down in Clones last Tuesday night , this week they have a bye before they play Monaghan Harps on Tuesday the 18th of April with a throw in time of 7pm.

Well Done: This weeks well done goes to the Marketing Team which had a stand at the Bank of Ireland Enterprise Day last Saturday in Castleblayney College.
Well done also to Ladies Coach Catriona Bolger who put a great effort into organising the event. Catriona even got county player Jack Mc Carron to speak to our Under 12 , so well done all.
