Club Notes 18th April

SFL: This week we had two games. First up was the visit of Ballybay to St. Mary’s Park under the floodlights on Wednesday night. In an entertaining game, Ballybay ran out winners on a scoreline of Faughs 2-9, Ballybay 3-13, with good performances from Barry Hanratty and Marty McElroy.
The lads then travelled the short distance to play Donaghmoyne on Saturday evening.

Unfortunately Donaghmoyne took the two points on offer with a scoreline of Donaghmoyne 0-17, Faughs 0-10. Plenty of time time now for the lads to regroup and refocus before the visit of Clontibret on Saturday, 29th April.

U12: Our senior U-12 team travelled to clontibret on Saturday for their third match in the Spring league. The game was played in less than perfect conditions but both teams provided an entertaining affair. After a close first half our lads excelled in the 3rd quarter and ran out comfortable winners playing excellent football. On a day of a great team performance, Shea Casey and Nathan McArdle showed the leadership this team will require as the year progresses.

Our development U-12 team followed in the footsteps of our senior team against Clontibret with an excellent victory. This improved performance will give the lads a confidence boost as this team moves towards its next series of competitive games. Plenty of team play would be source of encouragement for all coaches. Best on day for Faughs were Cormac Conlon, Dylan Mallie and Max McGinnity.

Under 10 Boys: Last Saturday the Under 10 team travelled to Scotstown to take on the Blues in three games, the young lads competed very well in all the games giving the players lots of time to demonstrate their skills. Next up for the boys are a set of GO Games in Monaghan on Saturday 29th of April with a throw in time of 10am. A big Thank You to the Scotstown Club for organising the match last Saturday morning and for the great refreshments and the auld chat afterwards.
