Club Notes 11th July

Faughs Summer Camp: Our annual McMahons Centra Faughs Summer Camp takes place on the 9th-12th August. This promises to be a great event for the children from around our locality. Application forms for the camp will be available at training over the coming weeks and also in McMahons Centra & Supervalu.

We ask that you return the forms as soon as possible to help us plan for what promises to be an action packed Camp.

SFL: Our senior lads kept up their recent winning form with a comfortable win over Killanny in Round 9 of the league on Friday night past. This was a good team effort with decent performances all over the pitch and keeps us in good shape for upcoming games. Final score from St. Mary’s Park was Faughs 2-15, Killanny 0-13, well done to Alan and the team.

Fun in the Park: This week our Fun in the Park initiave will take place in Cresent Hill on Saturday 15th of July at 4pm. You can expect some great fun with our senior players – you never know who will turn up! It is open to all children – you do not have to be a regular attender to come along and we would love to see new faces.

U14 girls: Our U14 girls travelled to Truagh for the league semi final. Blayney were a little under strength but still retained hopes of making it to the league final, but it wasn’t to be. At half time the Truagh girls had a good lead but as we know from previous experience our young ladies have a never say die attitude and came out fighting in the second half and in the middle of the half got 3 consecutive goals to reduce the Truagh lead. Unfortunately Truagh weren’t finished either and came back with a couple of goals ensuring they make their way to the league final.

U12 girls: Our U12 girls under the watchful eye of their mentors have a home game on Thursday evening at 7pm against O’Neill Shamrocks. This is a semi final and we wish them all the very best of luck with that match and support would be gratefully appreciated.

Under 10 Boys: Our U-10 boys travelled to Killanny last Saturday to play Killanny, Corduff and Magheracloone , the boys competed well on what was a glorious Saturday. This Saturday the older boys travel to Truagh for their annual Under-10 tournament.

Under 8 & 10 Girls: We are in the process of organising a Go Game Blitz for the Girls on Saturday 22nd of July in St Marys Park the games will run from 10 am to 12pm, we will confirm more details during the week.

Cuil Camps: This week saw the Club host the Kellogg’s Cuil Camp. We had a record crowd of over 200 children attending. Well done to Colin Malone and his team for their great work – the children really enjoyed the week.

Muckno Mania Sports Day and Teddy Bear Picnic: Well done to everyone who took part in the Teddy Bear Picnic and the Muckno Mania Sport’s Day last Saturday. We had lots and lots of smiles and laughs – indeed some volunteers get some lovely red faces from the sun and running around after the children. Thanks to Paul McCormack Solicitors for sponsoring the medals and to the army of people who volunteered to help out on the day – it really was great fun for the children, parents and coaches.
