Senior team – The Senior team had a tough but successful week, with two important wins over Latton and Currin, on both occasions we won by a point. The displays were as one would expect, a bit rusty, but we would have settled for four points at the beginning of the week. The results now see us move into fourth place on fifteen points with our next league game against Ballybay on Sunday 31st of August at 2pm. This Saturday evening sees us traveling to Clontibret to play Doohamlet in the Senior Championship at 6.30pm. At this stage it will be do or die for both teams with the loser exiting the Monaghan Senior Football at the first round stage.
Minors – The Boys travelled to play their last league game against Sean’s last Tuesday night. The home side showed a greater determination and a better use of the ball in front of the goal, which helped them to run out three point winners. The Boys now have to travel to play top of the table Corduff on Tuesday night (Check Website for Result). Best of luck lads, let’s push hard to make the semi-final.
Under 16 Boys – The U16 Faughs travelled to Tyholland for their championship encounter on Tuesday and came out the wrong side of a 3 point margin after a tough, end to end game. The Blayney boys never managed to hit their stride or play with the fluency they had produced throughout the year. However the team fought to the end and had a couple of opportunities which on another day might have come off. However on this occasion a stronger Tyholland team deserved their victory. The games keep coming with the team making the short journey to Toome on Thursday evening where another tough battle is expected.
Under 14 Girls –Next up will be our second game against Carrick with an away fixture at 7pm on Monday 25th of August. Training as normal this week.
Under 14 Boys – The lads returned to league action last Tuesday the 12th of August in what was a replay of the Championship Final against Sean’s. The lads opened well and a couple of early goals settled the Faughs lads as they went on to put in a good hour shift. Final Score Faughs 9-15 Seans 1-10. The Boys have now qualified for the Final on the 6th of September and will play the winners of the Ballybay/Seans Semi-final. Training will continue this week as normal with the focus now on getting prepared for the next big day out.
Under 10 Girls – The young ladies took on Clontibret last Monday evening in a challenge game in St. Marys Park. In a tight affair the girls came out on top with three points to spare. Best on the night was Grace Hanratty, Aoibheann McCooey and Tory McGeough. The management team are looking for another challenge match next week before we will travel to Clontibret for a return fixture. Well done girls keep it up.
Under 10 Boys – The Boys will entertain Scotstown this Thursday evening with a throw in time of 7pm. Come out and watch the boys as there are some very talented footballers at this age group. The Boys have been invited to a number of tournaments over the next few weeks which will give us a good gauge on their progress.
