U14 Girls: Our u14 girls travelled to Magheracloone last Monday evening for our 3rd league match. An exciting match was played with the intensity that we have come to expect of these girls.
Finding it initially difficult to get through the Magheracloone defence, Blayney started taking their points. Some great scores meant they headed in at half time with an 11 point lead. The girls were encouraged by management at half time to take nothing for granted and to carry on as they had in the first half.
Changes made on the opposing team at half time saw a rejuvenated Magheracloone team who came at blayney with 4 goals one from a penalty. Blayney girls held their nerve to the end and claim another victory in the league on a final score line of 1-18 to 4-5. Well done ladies!!!! Training continues Monday and Friday nights in the Faughs pitch and a full attendance is required.
U15 Boys: The U15 Boys returned to winning ways last Thursday evening with an impressive win against a good Clontibret side.
In an opening and entertaining game, the Faughs lads raced out of the traps early on, registering 2-2 without reply in the opening few minutes. This was to be the platform from which the Faughs would go on to win the game. A game Clontibret side battled back bravely either side of half time, but the Faughs lads finished the game very strongly with another couple of goals and points to run out deserving winners in what was an overall very good team performance.
Team: Shane Morris, Zach McArdle, Joe Carey, Ultan Mc Mahon, Conor Ruddy, Ben Mallon, Kealan Mc Mahon, Paudie Heavin, Martin Joyce, Niall Rice, Leo Maloney, Jason Campbell, John Joyce, Calum Campbell, Ross Maguire, Daniel Mc Shane, Kean Haub, Brandon McCague.
U13 Boys: The Development Team travelled to Scotstown on Saturday and put in an excellent performance to overcome the blues, the lads are currently playing some lovely football, best on the day were Kieran Hughes, Dylan Mallie, Stephen Fox and David Lambe. In the Senior game we played Carrick in St Marys Park, unfortely weunat lost to a very good Emmett’s side, best on the day were Jake Mc Donald, Sean Bishop and Shea Casey. The Under 13 Senior team play Monaghan Harps in the Championship this Wednesday night at 7.15pm while the next game for the development team is against Donaghmoyne on Saturday 2nd of June.
Senior Men: Our Senior men travelled to Truagh on Monday night but found it tough going against a well organised Truagh side. The Faughs got the first 2 points, before Truagh hit back with 5 on the spin, but the lads rallied to make it a 1 point game at half time. We levelled at the beginning of the 2nd half before Truagh got 4 points in a row. Blayney again rallied, but Truagh got a vital goal in the 27th minute to leave the final score Truagh 1-11, Faughs 0-12.
Well Done: Compliments to the chef(s) – well done goes to the Senior Men and their support team who put the professionals on MasterChef to shame with the Big Breakfast on Sunday past. The boys were certainly kept on their toes during a busy morning in Iontas and a note of gratitude to all who attended this great event.
Well done to player and mentor Colin Merrick who won Student of the Year award at Our Ladies recently.
Well done to Charlie Mc Quillan who played at half time in the Monaghan Game. Charlie was his usual energetic self, covering every blade of grass of Healey Park and scoring a couple of goals for good measure.
Well done to Monaghan Senior and Minor teams – great to see Robbie Hanratty score a wonderful point to help secure another win for the Minor Team.
