Greenfield Foods SFC: Played on a damp and greasy pitch on Friday evening past we exited this year’s championship when Magheracloone edged the game. We had a number of goal chances throughout the match, especially in the first half, but a combination of good goalkeeping and bad luck meant we went in at the break a point down 0-04 to 0-03.
A talking point at half time was whether a point that wasn’t given was indeed a score, though in fairness we did have other missed opportunities throughout. Magheracloone opened up an important 4-point gap at the beginning of the second half, but the lads responded well and came back to within a point. It really was nip and tuck. There was some confusion in the dying seconds of the game when some of the supporters thought a free in for ‘Blayney had been given, but unfortunately it was the full-time whistle. Final score Faughs 0-09, Magheracloone 0-10. After some reasonable championship performances, the Faughs exit this year’s championship in Round 3B, and now we can turn our attention to the remaining league games.
