Faughs Juvenile Presentation 2014 Medals

Last Saturday evening saw the Castleblayney Faughs hold their Juvenile presentation in a packed Glencarn Hotel. The Club had invited Monaghan and Scotstown Goalkeeper Rory Beggan to present medals to the Under 12 Boys and Girls, Under 14 Double Winners and the Minor Team. Rory was joined on stage by fellow County Players, Martin Mc Elroy and Dermot Malone for a question and answers session. In the Q& A, Rory outlined the need for practice, indicating that all children needed to develop their skills outside of training nights. He urged the boys and girls to take a ball each evening for thirty minutes to practice kicking it off the wall of the house with both feet, this would help improve kicking, catching and movement skills. Dermot spoke about the need to eat well urging all players to cut down on sweets, chips, crisps and sugar drinks and replace with as much water and fruit as possible. Martin spoke on how he has seen the great improvement in skill levels at all age groups, particularly at the young age groups and reassured all players that himself and Dermot would be still be playing Senior Football when all these young players were coming through to senior level. Speaking after the event Brian Sherry, Youth Officer of the Club, was clearly delighted; “It is a big night, as most people know we have been working very hard on our Juvenile teams for the last couple of years. In the last twelve months each of our teams made either the Semi Final or Final of their competitions which is real progress for the Club, nights like tonight help us reward those players for their efforts. While progress is slow, we ultimately believe that we are doing the right things in the player’s development to insure that we as a Juvenile Club provide our Senior Ladies and Men’s teams with quality players for the future. I would like to thank the huge amount of people we have working at a Juvenile level, their commitment and dedication is fantastic and I have no doubt that their efforts will be rewarded in the future when we once again see Faughs Men and Ladies team winning at the highest level”.
