It’s Ready, Steady and Go as the Castleblayney Faughs horses and jockeys get ready for post in the Castleblayney Faughs fundraiser in aid of the Juvenile Club which will take place in the Spinning Wheel on Friday the 12th of June at 8.30pm. The Club are trying to raise finance to cover the cost of running such a large Juvenile Club, as Brian Sherry Youth Chairperson explains “We have been working extremely hard over the last number of years to increase our numbers at all levels and thankfully that has happened but with the increase in playing numbers also comes the added cost which we need to cover. We always try very hard to run the club as efficiently as possible but we continuously depend on the very good nature of the local community, business and parents to support us. One of the main objectives behind this year’s race night is to help raise finance for the under fourteen squad who have qualified for the National Feile Peil nOg finals in Wicklow and Wexford on June 26th to June 28th, this is the first time in ten years we have qualified for Feile and shows how far we have come over the last number of years. We are looking for everyone to get involved on the night so when one of the Under fourteen squad, a parent or a committee member comes up to and ask you to buy a horse or sponsor a race we hope that you will look kindly on their request.”
The cost to purchase a horse on the night is €10.00 and to sponsor a race for the night is €50.00 so we hope that you will all invest in a horse or two before the big night!! Remember all the money raised goes to support the players of tomorrow. So let’s get it into the Diary for a good night’s craic.
