It has been all systems go as the Faughs Under 14 team, committee and parents have been selling their horses, jockeys and races for the last few weeks in preparation for this Friday’s Race Night fundraising event. It all takes off at 8.30pm this Friday 12th June in the Spinning Wheel where we hope to see a great crowd attend the Race Night. These young men have been training hard for the last few weeks as they get ready to represent their county in the National Feile Peil nOg finals in Wicklow and Wexford on June 26th to June 28th. Not only will they be competing against the county champions in each county but there are 10 overseas entries from as far away as San Francisco, New York and London.
They have already completed a street collection an sponsored litter pick but more funds are needed to cover coaches, meals, gear etc. The Faughs club would like to extend a welcome to all club members and their families to join us for a great social night for such a worthy cause. It has been ten years since the U-14 Castleblayney Faughs have been represented at Feile, which is testament to the work being out in by the Juvenile committee, management coaches and players. Brian Sherry Youth Chairperson explains “Our recent work over the last number of years has resulted not only in an increase in our numbers at all levels, boys and girls but with increased success on the playing field. We are confident that this squad of U-14 players will be the first in a long line of Juvenile teams to qualify for Feile. The boys are very excited about getting the chance to compete at such a high level and about the friendships and fun they will have at this memorable weekend.’
We are looking for everyone to get involved on the night so when one of the Under fourteen squad, a parent or a committee member comes up to and ask you to buy a horse or sponsor a race we hope that you will dig deep and help them make this night a great success. The cost to purchase a horse on the night is €10.00 and to sponsor a race for the night is €50.00 so we hope that you will all invest in a horse or two before the big night!! Remember all the money raised goes to support the players of tomorrow. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible for a good night where you might even win a few quid!!
